Grandstream GXP1630 3-Line Gigabit PoE IP Phone
Description
The Grandstream GXP1630 is a Linux-based 3-line business IP phone with a 132×64 (2.98 inch) backlit LCD, 8 dual-colour BLF or speed-dial keys, 4-way conferencing, HD audio and dual switched Gigabit ports with integrated PoE. It is the entry point into the GXP range for small and mid-size offices that want Gigabit and PoE without paying for a colour screen.
Weight is 0.8 kg, size 222.5 x 208.5 x 76.2 mm with handset, and it draws 3.84 to 6.49 W on PoE (802.3af Class 2).
A dependable desk phone for everyday offices
Many offices only need basic lines, transfer, hold, conference and a few BLF keys. The GXP1630 provides three line keys with three SIP accounts, three XML programmable soft keys, eight BLF keys and 13 dedicated function keys (including page/intercom and record). Hot desking, call park, shared and bridged line appearance and server redundancy cover typical small-business PBX use. Because it supports PoE and has a pass-through Gigabit port, a single cable run serves both phone and PC, which cuts cabling cost in refits and site offices.

Selection tips
Pick the GXP1630 for reception-lite, back-office, workshop-office and meeting-room use. If the user is a receptionist who watches many extensions, step up to the GXP2170 with 48 BLF keys. If a colour screen and Wi-Fi are needed, look at the GRP2614. The GXP1630’s PoE class (802.3af Class 2) draws under 7 W, so a modest PoE budget covers a whole floor of these phones.
Installation and configuration notes
Choose one of the two angled positions on the stand or mount the phone on a wall with its integral wall-mount provision. After first boot, set the SIP server, register the three accounts, and assign BLF keys. Enable TLS and SRTP for traffic leaving the building and use the AES encrypted XML configuration file for mass provisioning, as described in the upgrade and provisioning entry.
Fit for GCC offices and sites
Site offices, contractor camps, SMEs, clinics, schools and retail back-offices in Oman and the GCC commonly specify a basic Gigabit PoE phone, as it is easy to replace and manage. Keep phones within the 0 to 40 C operating range, which excludes uncooled stores and open sheds.
Selection and installation notes
A phone or voice device is selected from the number of lines and accounts, the display and keys needed, the network (PoE or power adapter, Gigabit or Wi-Fi) and the platform it connects to. Check that the PBX or the cloud service supports SIP and the codecs required, plan the VLAN and the PoE budget on the switch, and use provisioning to configure many devices consistently. Keep the firmware current and record the account settings for each unit.
