Banner QT50R-EU-AF2UQP R-GAGE Radar Sensor, 24 m
Description
A 24 GHz FMCW radar with two zones, discrete outputs and a 0-10 V analog
The QT50R-EU-AF2UQP is the European-band R-GAGE QT50R-AF2 radar sensor from Banner Engineering. It transmits 24 GHz frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar and works out distance from the delay of the reflected signal, so it detects objects containing metal, water or similar high-dielectric material from 0.5 m to 24 m. The sensor can be set to two independent sensing zones.
The zones are pre-set at the factory and re-set with DIP switches on the back of the housing, so the sensor is plug-in ready. A 150 mm pigtail ends in an 8-pin M12 quick-disconnect, and the model is listed as telecom approved for the US, Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan.

What radar sees that light sensors do not
Banner prints a typical beam pattern for four target classes at the highest sensitivity: a weak object (radar cross section 0.25 square metres), a car (3), a large truck (50) and a passenger train (300). The practical consequence is that detection range depends heavily on the target: a metal vehicle is found at far greater distance than a person-sized weak reflector. Uses include vehicle detection, level monitoring and collision avoidance in yards and hoppers.
The analog output provides a 0-10 V signal proportional to distance, which makes the QT50R-EU-AF2UQP useful where a PLC analog input is wanted rather than two switching points.
Radio approval and ordering
Radar sensors are radio equipment. The datasheet lists telecom approval for the regions named above and tells customers of other countries to contact Banner Engineering. Please confirm local radio-frequency approval requirements for the country of installation before ordering, and select the matching regional model code (the EU in this part number denotes the European frequency band).
The model needs a mating 8-pin M12 cordset, ordered separately. Mounting uses the housing’s two M4 counterbored holes or a bracket.

About brand
Banner Engineering is the American maker of industrial sensors, indicator lights, wireless monitoring and machine safety products. Bob Fayfield founded it in 1966 as a small engineering firm in the Minneapolis area. The company is privately held and still based in Minnesota.
Seven Star LLC lists Banner devices including the Q4X rugged stainless steel laser distance sensor and the K50 Pro Beacon IO-Link multicolor RGB indicator, and supplies Banner sensors and indicators to plants and machine builders in Oman.

Banner Q4X and K50 Pro
Banner offers the Q4X in four range versions, all starting at 25 mm: Q4X100 to 100 mm, Q4X300 to 300 mm, Q4X500 to 500 mm and Q4X600 to 600 mm. The series is available with discrete, analog and IO-Link outputs and has a display on the sensor. The K50 Pro Beacon is a status indicator whose color and behavior are set from the controller over IO-Link.

Ordering Banner products: what we need
Send the complete Banner model number from the device label, because range, output type and connector are all coded into it. For the Q4X, state the measuring distance, the output your PLC input needs and the connector or cable style. For indicators, give the housing size, control method and voltage. Mating cordsets and brackets can be included for GCC orders.
