Kjellberg CUTFIRE 125 Air Plasma Cutting System

Description

Top-of-range 125 A plasma cutter for thicker plate

The Kjellberg CUTFIRE 125 is the highest-rated unit in the CUTFIRE series, with a cutting current of 20 to 125 A and a 100 % duty cycle at 40 °C. Kjellberg quotes a recommended cutting range of 40 mm in mild steel, a maximum capacity of 60 mm and a piercing capacity of 25 mm. It shares the 678 x 390 x 610 mm housing of the CUTFIRE 105 and weighs 49 kg. Kjellberg describes it for demanding cutting tasks and thicker materials, still with air as the plasma gas and an air-cooled torch.

Cutting thicker material with air plasma

Thick plate is where operator setup errors cost most, so the automatic control matters. After the operator selects material, thickness and cutting mode on the display, the system determines the appropriate cutting current, cutting pressure and cutting speed. Digital pressure control and integrated process monitoring support stable process conditions when cutting thicker materials. Kjellberg also lists the unit for stainless steel and aluminium, and for gouging and marking besides cutting.

The CNC interface lets the unit run on a cutting table, where a 40 mm recommended range and 60 mm maximum can be programmed as part of a nested job.

Supply and selection checks for the CUTFIRE 125

The CUTFIRE 125 draws the most power in the series: a 63 A slow mains fuse is listed, with a maximum connected load of 21.6 kVA on the product page. Confirm that the site supply, cable and breaker can carry this before ordering, and consider generator sizing separately if the unit will run on site power. If your cutting list stays below 30 mm, the 105 offers a 100 % duty cycle at a lower supply demand, so the 125 makes most sense when the 40 mm recommended range is regularly used.

Kjellberg adds that the long-life consumables and the use of compressed air as the process gas keep operating costs low, and that the range suits metal fabrication, steel construction, production, and repair and maintenance work. On thick plate the consumable wear and the compressor capacity deserve as much attention as the cutter itself, so ask for the torch consumable list in the same enquiry.

Documents and quotation

A copy of the Kjellberg CUTFIRE series brochure is attached, with the technical data of every model in the series. For a quotation, send the model, site voltage and frequency, the plate materials and thickness range, hand-held or table use, and the torch hose length. About brand

Kjellberg Finsterwalde is a German manufacturer of plasma cutting systems, welding technology and welding electrodes, based in Finsterwalde. The company traces its history to Oscar Kjellberg, who obtained the 1908 German patent for the coated welding electrode, and it has operated in Finsterwalde since 1922. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the Kjellberg CUTFIRE air plasma cutting systems and sources Kjellberg equipment for fabricators and workshops.

Kjellberg product groups

The cutting range runs from mobile CUTFIRE air plasma units for hand-held and mechanised work to automated systems such as HiFocus, Smart Focus and the iQ and Q series, with KjellCut torches and the Q-Torch automatic torch-change system. On the welding side Kjellberg lists coated electrodes for unalloyed, high-temperature, stainless, nickel-base, cast iron, underwater and surfacing work, plus submerged-arc and TIG welding technology.

Ordering Kjellberg equipment: what we need

Give the model name, the mains voltage and frequency, the material and thickness to be cut, and whether the system will be used hand-held or on a cutting table. For plasma systems also state the torch hose length and whether a CNC interface is needed.
