Kemppi X5 Power Source 400 Pulse MIG/MAG Welding Power Source

Description

A 400 A pulse-capable MIG/MAG power source built around a modular wire-feed system

The Kemppi X5 Power Source 400 Pulse (product code X5130400000) is the pulse-capable 400 A power source in Kemppi’s X5 FastMig system, a modular multi-process industrial welding set designed and made in Finland. Kemppi lists manual, synergic (Auto), pulse and double pulse welding on it, and says it is compatible with the MAX welding processes as well as WiseFusion, WisePenetration and WiseSteel. Combined with an X5 wire feeder, it forms a MIG/MAG system that can also run MMA, DC TIG and gouging in non-robotic use; Kemppi notes that TIG and MMA are not available in robotic welding applications.

Wire feeders and system options

The X5 power source is paired with a separate wire feeder. The brochure lists the X5 Wire Feeder 200 (5 kg spools, up to 200 mm, 0.5 to 25 m/min), the 300 (20 kg, 300 mm spools) and the 300HD, with Manual, AP and APC versions; a pulse system requires an AP or APC feeder. Filler wire ranges from 0.8 to 2.0 mm for steel and stainless steel on the 300 feeders, up to 2.4 mm for metal-cored and flux-cored wire, and aluminium to 2.4 mm. APC models add wireless connectivity for WeldEye ArcVision and digital WPS, and Kemppi also lists SuperSnake sub-feeders, a liquid cooler for water-cooled torches, carriages and cable sets.

Weld Assist, Kemppi’s guidance tool, sets parameters once the welder chooses joint type, welding position and material thickness. Configuration rules matter: Manual, Auto and Pulse systems each have minimum feeder and power-source combinations, so confirm the combination before ordering.

About brand

From Lahti, Finland, Kemppi has been building arc welding equipment since 1949. The current program runs from portable stick welders to industrial MIG/MAG and TIG power sources, supported by welding helmets and the WeldEye welding management software.

Seven Star LLC lists Kemppi MIG/MAG, TIG and stick welding machines and supplies them to fabrication shops and site contractors in Oman.

Kemppi machine families listed here

Kemppi names its machines by family and current rating, which makes selection fairly direct:

  • Kempact 323A and Master M 323: compact MIG/MAG machines
  • X3 FastMig: industrial MIG/MAG system
  • Master S 500 and Minarc Evo 180: stick (MMA) welders
  • Master T 355 ACDC: AC/DC TIG machine

Kemppi sells several versions under one family name: the Master T series, for example, includes both 355 DC and 355 ACDC machines, so the full designation matters.

Where Kemppi welding machines are used

Portable units such as the Minarc Evo 180 suit maintenance and site work. The Master S stick machines are aimed at heavier electrode welding on structures and piping. MIG/MAG systems such as X3 FastMig are used in production welding of steel structures and machinery, and AC/DC TIG machines are chosen where aluminum has to be welded alongside stainless and carbon steel.

Ordering Kemppi equipment: what we need

Send the full model name and, if you have it, the Kemppi order code. State the mains supply at your site, single or three phase and the voltage, since several models exist in different supply versions. Tell us if you need the power source alone or a package with wire feeder, torch, earth cable, cooling unit and cart. For torches and wear parts, send the torch model and the wire diameter or electrode size. For an older machine, the serial number from the rating plate lets us check parts against the manufacturer documentation.
