Yaskawa A1000 High Performance Vector Control AC Drive
Description
The Yaskawa A1000 is a general-purpose AC drive built for applications where speed accuracy, low-speed torque and motor flexibility matter: conveyors, cranes and hoists, extruders, mixers, test stands, process lines and pump or fan duty that needs more than V/f control. One platform runs induction motors and permanent magnet motors, open loop or closed loop, from sub-kilowatt sizes up to 630 kW at 400 V.
Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes A1000 drives against the manufacturer technical manual. Send the motor nameplate, supply voltage and duty, and we will return the matching CIMR-A model code with the options you need.

How to read the A1000 model code
The Technical Manual decodes the model number as CIMR-A plus a region letter (A Japan, B China, C Europe, D India, T Asia, U USA), a voltage digit (2 for 200-240 V, 4 for 380-480 V, 5 for 500-600 V), a customized-specification letter (A standard, T for 6-phase / 12-pulse input), a four-digit output current code, an enclosure letter and an environmental letter. Enclosure codes are A (IP00/Open), F (IP20/NEMA 1, UL Type 1) and U (flange type). Environmental codes are A (standard), K (gas-resistant), M (humidity- and dust-resistant), N (oil-resistant) and S (vibration-resistant).
As a worked example, the 400 V code 4A0058 is a 58 A Normal Duty drive rated 30 kW (40 HP) ND or 22 kW HD at 45 A.
Choosing between open loop, closed loop and PM control
Open Loop Vector (OLV) gives 200 % starting torque at 0.3 Hz and a 1:200 speed range, which suits most conveyors and mixers without an encoder. Closed Loop Vector adds an encoder feedback card and reaches a 1:1500 speed range with +/-0.02 % accuracy and 200 % torque at zero speed, the choice for hoists, winders and test benches. Permanent magnet motor control is available in open loop, advanced open loop and closed loop forms. The manual notes that rotational Auto-Tuning is required to obtain the published performance figures.
Protection, safety and installation points
The drive stops on DC bus overvoltage and undervoltage at class-specific thresholds listed in the manual. A heatsink thermistor, braking resistor overheat input and stall prevention are included. Safe Disable provides two inputs and an EDM output for stopping the motor without a contactor. Models 2A0110 to 2A0415, 4A0058 to 4A1200 and 5A0041 to 5A0242 contain a DC link choke. Flange-type drives let you place the heatsink outside the panel to keep heat out of the enclosure.

About brand
Variable speed drives are the Yaskawa products most plant electricians meet first, usually on a pump, fan or conveyor. The company dates from 1915 and is based in Kitakyushu, Japan, and it also makes servo systems, robots and PLCs. Seven Star LLC supplies Yaskawa AC drives and control hardware in Oman. Listed here are the GA500 and GA700 drives and two 300S CPUs that many users still know under the VIPA name.
Yaskawa drives and VIPA controllers listed here
The GA500 is the compact microdrive for small motors and machine applications, and the GA700 is the general-purpose drive for larger motors and more demanding control. The GA500 is the follow-on to the V1000, and Yaskawa publishes a transition guide between the two. On the control side, the 315-2AG23 (CPU 315SB/DPM) and 315-4NE23 (CPU 315SN/NET) are SPEED7 processors of the 300S system, programmed with Siemens STEP 7 tools.
Ordering Yaskawa drives and CPUs: what we need
For a drive, send the full catalog code from the nameplate (it starts with CIPR-GA50 or CIPR-GA70), which fixes the voltage class, current rating and enclosure. Add the motor power and current, supply voltage, duty (normal or heavy) and any fieldbus option card. For a VIPA CPU, send the order number and the hardware and firmware version on the front label. We supply across the GCC and check each code against Yaskawa documentation.
