Vortice E 504 M Low-Pressure Axial Plate Fan 500 mm 41219

41219 is the Vortice E 504 M, a low-pressure axial plate fan with a 500 mm port, a single-phase 220-240 V four-pole motor and a six-blade impeller. It delivers up to 4,500 m3/h at 59 Pa from 220 W, and is built for direct wall or window extraction where no duct load has to be overcome.

A single-phase wall extractor for workshops, kitchens and halls

The E range is the long-established plate fan of the Vortice industrial line. The wall panel is phosphated pressed steel finished with a hammered-effect polyester powder coat, and the ventilation port is formed in one piece with the plate and gauged to optimise airflow. A protective grille to UNI ISO 13857 combines the function of motor bracket and can be removed easily for cleaning.

The motor is a single-speed asynchronous single-phase AC type on double shielded ball bearings, insulation class F. The impeller has six wing-profile blades keyed to a diecast aluminium hub, moulded in filled polypropylene and dynamically balanced to UNI ISO 1940 class 6.3. The booklet describes the series as low-pressure industrial axial fans for extraction directly to the outside, for use where no load loss has to be overcome.

Selection and ordering guide

E 504 M is the middle of the E range for single phase supplies, between E 404 M (3,150 m3/h) and E 604 M (7,000 m3/h). The T versions run on 220/380-240/415 V three phase with higher pressure on some sizes (E 504 T: 4,800 m3/h, 115 Pa). Where hazardous gas or dust may be present, Vortice lists separate ATEX versions of the E series such as 40328 (E 404 T ATEX, marked II 2G Ex h IIB T3 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T125 C Db); these are different products and are not the item on this page.

Because the pressure is only 59 Pa, the fan suits free-discharge installations: a long duct or filter will cut the flow a lot. Use the MP or MPC series when pressure loss is present.

Installation and operation notes

The booklet says the fan is for extraction directly outdoors with no load loss, not for dusty air or acid or corrosive fumes. If installed less than 2.5 m above the floor, a safety mesh frame and gravity shutter protect the moving parts.

Earth the fan, protect the circuit with an overload device calibrated to the data-plate current, and use a multi-pole switch with a contact gap of at least 3 mm. Provide weather protection outdoors and clear air entry in the room.

A single-phase 220-240 V supply makes it simple to retrofit in small commercial buildings without three-phase power.

Sizing and maintenance notes

Plate fans of this type are best used for direct extraction through a wall or window, where there is no duct resistance. For workshops, kitchens and halls, the number of fans is usually chosen from the required air changes per hour and the room volume. Make sure there are enough openings for fresh air to enter on the opposite side, because without them the real airflow falls well below the catalogue value.

Where the fan faces prevailing winds, dust or sand, fit a guard and an external shutter or louvre. In kitchens, grease builds up on the blades and must be cleaned regularly. Check the fixing bolts and the motor during routine maintenance, and keep the single-phase supply protected with a suitable breaker.
