Greenheck AX High Performance Axial Fan, 100/200/300 Series

Description

A direct-drive axial fan family that spans three construction grades

The Greenheck AX is a direct-driven axial fan for inline ventilation in commercial or industrial buildings. One catalogue covers three series: the bolted 100 series for volumes up to 10,000 cfm, the welded 200 series for 10,000 to 65,000 cfm, and the welded 300 series from 500 up to 125,000 cfm (212,400 m3/h) with external static pressure to 5 in. wg (1,250 Pa). Fourteen sizes cover a wide span of flow and pressure, and the 300 series has a field-adjustable blade pitch so the duty can follow a system change.

The casing suits indoor or outdoor use and installs in ducted or non-ducted systems. Typical duties named by the manufacturer include supply and return fans for air handling equipment, emergency smoke and heat exhaust, stairwell pressurization, parking garage and storage facility exhaust, industrial process ventilation and tunnel ventilation, with continuous duty at 110 degF.

Key features from the datasheet

  • Asymmetrical blade locations that reduce blade-pass tones and give a smoother sound spectrum; tight blade-to-casing tolerance for efficiency.
  • Series 100 propeller: stamped galvanized steel hub with stamped aluminum blades and no stall/surge region at low cfm. Series 200 and 300: cast aluminum hubs with taper-lock bushings.
  • Series 100 uses an integrated hub; series 200 and 300 offer hub sizes 160, 190, 275, 400 and 533 (as listed in the catalogue table) with 4 to 12 blades so the hub-to-tip ratio can match the duty.
  • Designed with computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysis, then tested in Greenheck laboratories.
  • Integral inlet and outlet flanges, extended motor wiring leads to the outside of the casing, and a long all-welded casing on the 200 and 300 series.

Choosing a casing configuration

  • Long casing (standard): ducted or plenum duty, horizontal or vertical, ceiling hung or base mounted.
  • Vane section (300): bolt-on vanes convert swirl energy to static pressure for higher-pressure ducted systems.
  • Reversible (300): clean air and smoke exhaust, in-line or hooded roof mounted, common for stairwell pressurization.
  • Roof supply (300) and roof upblast (200, 300): spun inlet bell, hood or windband with butterfly dampers, roof curbs available.

Selection and ordering guide

Pick the series from the duty: the 100 series for light, low-flow work, the 200 for mid-range volumes and the 300 where pressure or volume is high or where smoke rating and blade adjustment matter. The catalogue refers to the CAPS or eCAPS programs for certified data, and the blade pitch on the 300 can be changed after installation. When you request a quotation give the size, blade count and hub, motor power and supply, rotation, mounting orientation and the accessories you need.

Installation and operation notes

Universal mounting brackets let the fan be rotated in the field between horizontal and vertical ceiling or base mounting and give an attachment point for vibration isolators, which are available as neoprene or spring sets of four sized to the total weight. Fit inlet bells (series 200 and 300) on free inlets so rated performance is reached, and add inlet or outlet guards where the fan is not ducted. All propellers are statically and dynamically balanced and every assembled fan is test run with motor amps measured.

Applications and accessories

The roof curb range (GPF, GPI, GPR and the heavy-load GPFHL for the 300 series) supports outdoor mounting. Other accessories include companion flanges, inspection sections with propeller access doors, VFDs sized and pre-programmed at the factory, and Vari-Green EC motors with up to 80 percent turndown. See our HVAC and combustion category for related fans.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm which of the three series fits the duty, whether the blade pitch will need field adjustment, and whether smoke or heat exhaust duty applies. If it does, state the temperature and time you must meet, because the printed ratings differ between series 200 and 300.

Information to send with an RFQ for the Greenheck AX High Performance Axial Fan

Fans are selected on the duty point, not on the model name. For the Greenheck AX High Performance Axial Fan, give the required airflow, the static pressure the fan must overcome, the air temperature and density, and whether the fan supplies or exhausts air. Mention the motor supply voltage, phase and frequency; 415 V / 3 ph / 50 Hz is common on GCC sites.

  • Installation position and the roof curb, wall opening or duct connection available.
  • Accessories: dampers, guards, speed control or variable frequency drive, and vibration isolation.
  • Sound limits for nearby offices or residential areas.
  • Ambient conditions: high temperature, dust, sand or corrosive air near the coast.

With a duty point and these details, the fan size, wheel and motor can be confirmed from the manufacturer’s selection data before a quotation is issued.

Documents and supply information

The December 2023 Greenheck AX catalogue is attached. Ratings, smoke temperatures and options are as printed; certified fan data is in the maker’s CAPS program. Availability and shipping documents are confirmed in the quotation.
