Vortice CA 200 MD E RF Centrifugal Roof Fan 3-Speed 16185
Description
16185 is the Vortice CA 200 MD E RF, a centrifugal duct fan for roof mounting with a 200 mm connection. A steel roof plate carries an external-rotor AC motor and a backward-curved impeller; with the optional TRIO-CA selector the fan runs at three speeds up to 580 m3/h and 417 Pa.
A roof-mounted extractor for ducts that terminate above the building
Where an extraction duct rises through the roof, a roof fan avoids running the discharge back down a wall. The CA MD E RF series places the motor and impeller inside a weather-resistant housing that stands on a roof mounting plate, so the duct is under suction and the noisy parts are outside the occupied space. The housing and plate are pickled and phosphated steel finished in polyester powder coat, described by Vortice as resistant to the aggressive action of atmospheric agents.
The motor is an external-rotor AC type with a thermal overload cutout, running in ball bearings and driving a backward-curved impeller. The booklet explains that the unit is already equipped with the capacitors for three speeds and must be paired with a suitable 3-speed selector; the description names the optional TRIO-CA control, code 12869, and notes that operation can also follow remote sensors for temperature, relative humidity, smoke and presence.
Key features as printed in the datasheet
- Steel housing and roof plate, phosphated, polyester powder-coated.
- External-rotor AC motor with thermal overload cutout, ball bearings.
- Backward-curved centrifugal impeller.
- Three speeds through the optional TRIO-CA selector (code 12869).
- Zinc-coated steel fixing brackets.
- Max continuous ambient temperature 55 C; IP 44; insulation class II.

Selection and ordering guide
Seven sizes share the same roof-fan concept, from 100 mm (195 m3/h) to 315 mm (865 m3/h). The 200 mm model offers 580 m3/h at 417 Pa, so it fits a duct of one or a few extraction points of moderate length. Above that, the 250 and 315 versions rise to 130 W motors and 552-574 Pa.
Note the temperature limit: the booklet gives 55 C for sizes 150-160-200-250-315 and 50 C for the 100, 125 and 150Q models, so the 200 mm unit has the higher limit in the range. For a hot roof exposure in the Gulf, check the extract-air temperature and the roof surface against that 55 C figure.
Installation and operation notes
The booklet says units installed without a protective device over the moving parts must be fitted higher than 2.3 m above floor level. Models with a manual-reset thermal breaker must not be powered by a timer or other switching device, nor connected to a circuit that is regularly disconnected, because an accidental reset would be dangerous.
The unit must draw from a single duct (or directly outdoors), the intake grilles must not be covered, and an omnipolar switch with 3 mm contact opening is required. Electrical data on the data label A must match the supply.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Extraction from kitchens, toilets, workshops, store rooms and mechanical rooms in commercial buildings where the duct runs to the roof. Roof mounting keeps motor noise outside, and the powder-coated plate is a practical choice against sun and dust exposure.
The unit is not to be used with flammable substances or vapours and cannot serve as an activator for water heaters or stoves, nor discharge into the hot flues of such appliances (booklet).
Compatible accessories and related items
The optional TRIO-CA three-speed selector (code 12869) is the control named in the description. Vortice documents wiring diagrams for the series in the product documentation.
