Greenheck KSQ-16-M2-VG-QD Untempered Mixed Flow Roof Supply Fan
Description
A filtered roof supply fan for make-up air
The Greenheck KSQ-16-M2-VG-QD is size 16 of the KSQ untempered mixed flow roof supply fan, in the M2 mixed flow wheel configuration with a Vari-Green EC motor, as listed in the stocked Quick Delivery code in the catalogue. KSQ fans are direct drive, roof mounted and aimed at filtered supply or untempered make-up air; the catalogue also names kitchen supply and stairwell or elevator shaft pressurization.
The range covers 12 sizes (7 to 33), up to 16,750 cfm and 2.75 in. wg, with horizontal or bottom intake and horizontal or bottom discharge. Many selections meet or exceed an FEI above 1.00, which the maker highlights as an efficiency advantage.
Features from the datasheet
- Mixed flow wheel for improved airflow and efficiency with lower sound and footprint.
- Totally enclosed direct drive motors, so no separate motor cover; Vari-Green EC motors up to and including 10 hp.
- 1 in. washable aluminum filters supplied as standard; pleated 2 in. MERV 13 filters optional on bottom-intake hoods.
- NEMA-3 disconnect switch standard; UL/cUL 705 listed for outdoor use; AMCA Seal; Miami-Dade NOA and Florida Product Approval (sizes 7 to 24 rated plus or minus 90 psf, 27 to 33 plus or minus 40 psf).
- Two removable access panels, one each side, for inspection.

Kitchen make-up air layout
When the KSQ serves a kitchen, the catalogue refers to NFPA 96 spacing between the supply and the exhaust fan. Option A calls for the roof deck to top of the exhaust fan windband at 40 in. minimum, roof deck to top of curb 18 in. minimum and the supply intake 10 ft minimum from all exhaust fans. Option B covers cases where 10 ft cannot be met: the vertical separation between exhaust and supply must be at least 36 in., and bottom intake hoods suit that case. Typical installations place the KSQ beside a CUE or CUBE upblast exhaust fan on vented roof curbs.
Choosing intake and discharge
Four configurations combine horizontal or bottom intake with horizontal or bottom discharge. Changing the intake changes the performance, and the catalogue curves are for horizontal intake with bottom discharge, so check the selection software for your arrangement. Horizontal discharge needs at least three wheel diameters of straight duct to limit system effect, and outlet square duct collars are available for slip-fit connection.
Control and accessories
Vari-Green motors accept a 0 to 10 VDC signal and offer up to 80 percent turndown, with dial-on-fan, remote dial and demand-controlled ventilation options. Accessories include roof curbs, curb extensions with insect screen bases, equipment supports, isolator kits, backdraft dampers WD-330 and control dampers VCD. See our HVAC and combustion category for related products.
What to confirm before ordering
Confirm intake and discharge orientation, the filter grade (washable aluminum or MERV 13), the supply voltage for the Vari-Green motor, the control signal you will use, and the roof curb or equipment support. For kitchen use give the spacing to the nearest exhaust fan.
Information to send with an RFQ for the Greenheck KSQ-16-M2-VG-QD Untempered Mixed Flow Roof Supply Fan
Fans are selected on the duty point, not on the model name. For the Greenheck KSQ-16-M2-VG-QD Untempered Mixed Flow Roof Supply Fan, give the required airflow, the static pressure the fan must overcome, the air temperature and density, and whether the fan supplies or exhausts air. Mention the motor supply voltage, phase and frequency; 415 V / 3 ph / 50 Hz is common on GCC sites.
- Installation position and the roof curb, wall opening or duct connection available.
- Accessories: dampers, guards, speed control or variable frequency drive, and vibration isolation.
- Sound limits for nearby offices or residential areas.
- Ambient conditions: high temperature, dust, sand or corrosive air near the coast.
With a duty point and these details, the fan size, wheel and motor can be confirmed from the manufacturer’s selection data before a quotation is issued.
Each quotation for the Greenheck KSQ-16-M2-VG-QD Untempered Mixed Flow Roof Supply Fan states the exact manufacturer part number, the documents that will accompany the shipment, the expected lead time from the factory and the delivery terms to your site. If the part number on an existing nameplate is incomplete or worn, send a clear photograph of the label and of the installed unit, and the correct ordering code can be confirmed with the manufacturer before the offer is issued.
