Soler & Palau CAB-355 RE Acoustic Cabinet Fan 355 mm
Description
A lined, outdoor-capable cabinet fan for 355 mm ducting
The Soler & Palau CAB-355 RE packs a forward-curved centrifugal fan into a galvanised steel cabinet lined with 50 mm of fireproof acoustic fibreglass (M0). It delivers up to 3200 m3/h with circular 355 mm duct flanges at inlet and discharge, and it has the highest airflow printed in the CAB table, ahead of the 3080 m3/h of the CAB-400 RE.
The datasheet states that all cabinets can be installed outdoors as standard and are mounted in vertical, horizontal or inverted positions, which gives a mechanical contractor freedom to place the box on a roof, in a plant room or hung from a slab. Typical uses are kitchen and canteen extract, car-park or basement supply and acoustically sensitive plant rooms where a bare centrifugal fan would be too loud.
Features from the catalogue
- Heavy-gauge galvanised steel, 50 mm fireproof fibreglass lining (M0) with high-resistance coating.
- Quick-fix cover fixings for fast removal and a tight close; cabinet air tightness with circular inlet and discharge flanges carrying integrated rubber air seals.
- Remote terminal box rated IP55 to ease connection to external controls.
- Single-phase direct-drive forward-curved centrifugal fan; the CAB range complies with ErP efficiency requirements (as printed).
- CAB-355 RE and 400 RE motors: IP55, class F insulation, ball bearings, thermal protection; speed controllable by voltage regulation.
- Four mounting feet supplied for ceiling, wall or floor installation.

Selection: CAB-355 RE against its neighbours
The 355 RE and 400 RE share cabinet dimensions (513 x 660 x 600 mm, 35 kg) and differ in duct size and airflow: 3200 against 3080 m3/h. The CAB-315 RE, at 2110 m3/h, 357 W and 33 kg, uses an IP44 class F motor, so if you need the IP55 motor and the higher airflow, the 355 RE is the correct size. The smaller CAB-100 to CAB-250 N use class B motors.
Because the single-phase motor draws 4.13 A, check the circuit and the REB-5 controller rating; do not substitute the REB-1N or REB-2,5N controllers listed for smaller cabinets.
Installation notes
Compare the data plate values to the supply before installation, as the catalogue requires. Use the four mounting feet for fixing, connect circular ducting to the flanges (or an ACOPEL flexible connector), and route the supply to the remote IP55 terminal box. The cover opens by quick-fix clips for maintenance, so leave access space on the cover side.
Reading the sound figures and the electrical load
Three sound values are printed: inlet 51 dB(A), outlet 65 dB(A) and radiated 45 dB(A). The radiated value is what a listener near the cabinet hears through the lining, while the inlet and outlet figures describe what travels into the connected ducts; the 20 dB(A) gap between radiated and outlet levels (derived) shows the benefit of the lined cabinet but also says duct-borne noise needs attenuators such as the SIL series on sensitive routes.
At 861 W and 4.13 A the motor is a substantial single-phase load. For two or more cabinets, spread them over circuits and check starting behaviour with the electrical designer. Say on the enquiry whether a heater (MBE) or filter box (MFL-G4) is wanted at the inlet, since those change the pressure the fan must overcome.
Accessories listed for the CAB range
- MBE electric heater and MBW hot water coil; MFL-G4 filtration boxes.
- SIL sound attenuators and ACOPEL F400 N circular flexible connector; APC discharge protection guards.
- KSE-45 rubber anti-vibration mounts (sold as set of four) and CAR circular back-draft shutters.
- REB-1N / REB-2,5N / REB-5 controllers, IP55 on-off switch, pulser for single-phase and three-phase electric heater control, TTC-2000 heater controller with TG-K330 duct sensor or TG-R530 room sensor.
More options sit under HVAC and combustion equipment. Confirm the exact accessory code and size against the catalogue sheet before ordering.
Installation and selection notes
The CAB-355 RE can be mounted in vertical, horizontal or inverted positions, so choose the position with the best access to the service panel and the motor. Support it on the slab or frame and connect circular ducts to the 355 mm flanges. Outdoor use is possible according to the datasheet, but the cable entry and any controls must still be protected as the installation rules require.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the supply voltage and phase, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC and any accessories such as controllers, silencers, dampers or flexible connectors, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification before a purchase is confirmed. Airflow, pressure, sound and motor values are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
