Steel-cased acoustic duct fan for 315 mm duct systems

Unlike the plastic TD-SILENT sizes, the Soler & Palau TD-2000/315 SILENT 3V is built from sheet steel with epoxy polyester paint and an acoustic lining of glass fibre inside the outer shell. It moves up to 1770 m3/h through a 315 mm duct and the datasheet records 39 dB(A) at 3 m on high speed, with the TD-2000 model carrying the Noise Abatement Society certificate of approval.

The fan unit is detachable for maintenance or cleaning without demounting the duct connections, and the terminal box is external (IP55), which keeps the wiring out of the air stream. It targets large-volume quiet extraction or supply in open-plan offices, hotel back-of-house, auditoria and similar spaces served by ducting above a ceiling.

Selection notes

The TD-1300/250 SILENT is the smaller steel sibling at 1160 m3/h on its medium point, a 250 mm duct and a 20 kg body; the TD-2000/315 SILENT is the pick for larger airflows or when 315 mm ducting is already in place. At 25 kg and 825 mm long it needs a proper support frame.

The wide temperature window, -40 to +60 degC, is the same as the steel TD-MIXVENT models. Use the catalogue curves to check that the system pressure drop of grilles, bends and attenuators sits within the fan characteristic at the speed you will run.

Installation

S&P calls out three benefits of the 1300 and 2000 design: low profile for ceiling voids, a detachable fan unit, and the IP55 remote terminal box. Verify the supply against the data plate, support the casing from the bracket, wire to the external box and connect ducts. Service access is from the fan unit side, so leave clearance there.

Quote the full code TD-2000/315 SILENT 3V. The controllers printed against it are the COM-3 and INTER 4P three-speed switches, the RMB-1,5 auto-transformer controller and the larger REB-2,5 electronic controller; the lower amp rated REB-1 listed for the 200 mm size is not the one printed for this fan.

Mechanical accessories named in the SILENT catalogue for the 1300 and 2000 sizes use the MCA, MAR, MRJ, MPC and MBR series codes with the number 2000. The MCA non-return flap is installed at the fan discharge to prevent heat leakage when the extractor is stopped, the MAR adapter allows connection to 500 x 315 mm rectangular ducting, the MRJ grille protects the fan from foreign objects, and the MPC flow detector measures pressure at the inlet of TD units fitted with an airflow straightener.

Installation and selection notes

The acoustic lining and detachable fan unit allow cleaning without disturbing the ductwork, so leave an access panel or clear space beneath the unit. Support the steel casing from the structure rather than the duct, wire the external IP55 terminal box with a cable gland suited to the cable, and confirm the speed settings against the airflow needed after commissioning.
