Tractel handifor Mini Digital Weigher, 20 to 200 kg

The Tractel handifor is a lightweight digital mini-weigher that measures forces and light loads up to 200 kg. It has an aluminium alloy body, an ABS outer casing and a 14 mm LCD display, and it hangs from a shackle or S-hook. The manufacturer describes it as designed for difficult load-control conditions and suited to weighing packages, shipping bags, materials in laboratories and mechanical parts. In rigging and maintenance work it is a handy tool for checking the weight of tools, fixtures and small components before they are lifted.

Features and functions

The handifor has three push buttons: On/Off, Tare for 100 percent tare, and Hold/Units for peak hold and for changing between kg, daN and lb. Automatic zeroing works when the applied load is below 10 percent of the capacity, and the display shows low battery and overload indicators. The measuring rate is 3 Hz, rising to 30 Hz in peak hold, and the temperature range is -10 C to +50 C. Two 1.5 V AAA batteries give about 100 hours of operation. The unit meets IP40, so it is a dry-environment instrument and not suitable for wash-down or immersion. The pack includes the unit, a shackle, S-hooks, a pouch, batteries and instructions.

Choosing the right capacity

Pick the capacity so that typical loads sit between 10 percent and 100 percent of the range: loads below 10 percent of the range may be zeroed out by the automatic zero function, and the maximum display is 125 to 130 percent of the capacity, so the overload indicator should be treated as a limit and not a working range. The handifor is not a lifting accessory for heavy loads; for loads from one tonne upward, the Dynafor Industrial, Pro and Expert load cells in the same family are the correct instruments. Hang the unit in line with the load, use the shackle or hook supplied and keep side loading to a minimum. Before ordering, confirm the capacity, the unit convention and whether a calibration certificate is required. Handifor is a measuring instrument and should be verified at regular intervals under the user quality plan.

Keep the unit in its pouch when not in use, replace the batteries when the low battery indicator appears, and avoid dropping it, because the aluminium body protects the sensor but the display is not designed for impact.
