HYTORC LION GUN X Cordless Electric Torque Tool
Description
The HYTORC LION GUN X is a budget-friendly cordless electric torque tool for light-duty bolting. The cut sheet describes it as fast and powerful, with a lighter weight, a smaller profile and a simpler operation than other electric torque tools; with a compact 36 V battery it delivers up to 3,000 ft-lbs (4067 Nm). Its two models, LGX-1000 and LGX-3000, are intended for maintenance crews who need repeatable torque with no air or hydraulic supply.
What the LION GUN X offers
The manufacturer lists repeatable torque with +/- 5 percent accuracy, a user-friendly digital interface, data storage for quality control and a low-vibration design that reduces the risk of hand-arm vibration injuries. A two-handed safety mode, a side safety handle and an ergonomic grip support safe operation. Built-in data recording uses a USB cable and PC, and Bluetooth is available on some models. The tool accepts conventional sockets and all HYTORC square-drive accessories, and the product page lists wheel bolting fixtures as a tailored option. Because the tool is cordless and has no hoses, a single operator can move between joints quickly, and the stored data can be exported to document the torque applied to each fastener for quality records. The 3/4 in LGX-1000 suits small flanges, couplings and structural connections, while the 1 in LGX-3000 handles larger studs in the 500 to 3,000 ft-lbs band.

The comparison on the manufacturer site places the LION GUN X between the 18 V LION GUN (15 to 700 ft-lbs) and the LITHIUM SERIES II (25 to 8,000 ft-lbs): it has a plastic professional-grade housing and basic digital features, and it is not offered in dual speed.
When to choose the LION GUN X
Choose it when the job sits between 200 and 3,000 ft-lbs and the joint does not justify a hydraulic set-up: plant maintenance, steel erection, wheel and hub work and equipment assembly. For lower torque, the 18 V LION GUN covers 15 to 700 ft-lbs, and for the full 8,000 ft-lbs range with rundown mode and advanced data capture, the LITHIUM SERIES II is the larger tool. As with any torque multiplier, the reaction arm must bear against a solid point, the operator must keep hands clear of the reaction path, and the battery pack must be handled according to the lithium-ion safety sheet. Check the calibration certificate matches the tool serial number.
Picking the right model for the bolt
Model selection depends on the required torque and the space around the nut. The LGX-1000 covers 271 to 1356 Nm on a 3/4 in drive and is the lighter and shorter tool at 4.35 kg and 302 mm, so it suits tight spaces and work at height where weight matters. The LGX-3000 covers 678 to 4067 Nm on a 1 in drive and weighs 7.01 kg; it is the tool for larger studs. Torques between 678 and 1356 Nm can be reached with either model, and in that overlap the choice comes down to access, socket size and operator fatigue over a long shift. Check the reaction arm geometry against adjacent nuts and flanges and confirm that the 65 mm or 85 mm tool diameter clears neighbouring obstructions.
Preparing the tool on site
- Charge the 36 V battery fully before the shift and keep a charged spare if a long bolting sequence is planned.
- Fit an impact-grade or torque-rated socket of the correct size to the square drive; worn sockets reduce accuracy and can slip.
- Position the reaction arm against a solid adjacent nut or fixed point, never against a part that can move or deform.
- Enter the target torque on the digital interface and confirm the value before starting.
- Use the two-handed safety mode and the side handle so that both hands are on the tool and out of the reaction path.
- After each joint, download or record the stored values so the quality record matches the bolting sequence.
Looking after the LION GUN X
Keep the tool and battery in the storage case when not in use. Clean the square drive and reaction arm after each job, and inspect them for cracks or wear before the next. Check the calibration certificate dates and plan recalibration intervals in line with your quality procedure and HYTORC’s recommendations. If the torque reached appears inconsistent, check the reaction point, socket condition and battery charge first. Lithium-ion packs should be stored partially charged when the tool will be idle for some time, and damaged packs must be taken out of service according to the safety sheet.
Bolting in Oman’s oil, gas and power sites
Many joints in Oman’s oil and gas facilities, power stations and desalination plants are outdoors and in direct sun. Lithium-ion batteries lose performance and age faster when left in hot vehicles or on steel decks, so keep batteries shaded and charge them indoors. Desert dust and sand can work into the drive and the cooling openings, so blow the tool out with dry air after dusty jobs. On offshore or coastal facilities, salt spray corrodes exposed steel parts of the drive and reaction arm; wipe them down and apply light protection after use. The cordless design is useful in remote areas where compressed air or hydraulic power units are not readily available.

About brand
HYTORC is an American manufacturer of industrial bolting tools, founded in 1968 and based in Mahwah, New Jersey. Its range covers hydraulic, electric and pneumatic torque tools and bolting pumps.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list HYTORC tools for flange and structural bolting work in Oman and the GCC.
HYTORC product series
Hydraulic torque wrenches include the MXT+, EDGE S and AVANTI square-drive wrenches and the STEALTH and VERSA low-clearance wrenches for tight access. The HY-Series electric hydraulic pumps drive these wrenches.
Handheld tools include the LITHIUM SERIES II and LION GUN X cordless electric torque tools and the jGun DIGITAL pneumatic torque tool.
Square-drive wrenches such as the MXT+ and EDGE S take impact sockets, while low-clearance STEALTH and VERSA wrenches use hex links for nuts with limited radial space. HYTORC's reaction washer approach removes the need for an external backup wrench on many joints, and the cordless LITHIUM SERIES II and LION GUN X tools speed up bolting where no hydraulic hose or pump is wanted.
Where HYTORC tools are used
Flange joints on pipelines, pressure vessels and heat exchangers, turbine and compressor casings, wind turbines, and heavy structural and mining equipment bolting.
