Tractel Tirfor TU EN13157 Manual Wire Rope Hoist

Description

The Tractel Tirfor TU series is the EN 13157 version of the Tirfor manual wire rope machine, sized for 800, 1600 and 3200 kg working load limits. It is a lightweight, portable device for lifting, pulling and positioning loads with millimetre precision, and the manufacturer positions it for construction, electricity and telecommunication work, mining, quarries, rescue and other jobs that need a long rope travel. The TU range is described as known for its unrivalled robustness and meets the requirements of EN 13157.

EN 13157 compliance and the load limiter

The TU models carry the EN 13157 standard on the technical sheet, which covers manually powered lifting equipment, and are also described as complying with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Every unit has a dual-jaw traction mechanism and a load limiter that uses safety shear pins, with two sets of additional pins supplied, and a QR code for traceability. The machine is used with a telescopic handle and Tractel wire rope on a reel; the TU8 and TU16 are fitted with an anchoring hook and the TU32 with an anchoring pin, with a hook offered as an option. Capacity can be multiplied by sheave blocks, and the sheet lists reference numbers for each model.

TU or T500: which Tirfor to choose

Both ranges have the same capacities and ropes. The TU series is the one to choose when the specification calls for EN 13157 compliance, for example for lifting work under a regulated inspection regime, while the T500 series is offered for general traction work with the pass-through feature on the D models. Check the lever force needed at full load: at 800 kg the TU8 needs 43 daN on the forward stroke, while the larger models need 54 daN, so the operator effort and the available lever room matter. Plan the anchor point, the sheave blocks and the rope length together; the rope itself is a separate item, and the rope diameter must match the machine.

Inspect the wire rope, the hook, the shear pins and the lever before each shift, keep spare shear pins with the machine, and never replace a shear pin with a stronger pin or a bolt, because the pin is the overload protection of the machine.

About brand

Tractel is a manufacturer of lifting, pulling, height safety and load measurement equipment, founded in 1941 in the Paris region on the strength of the patent for the Tirfor wire rope hoist, a hand-operated machine that pulls a wire rope straight through it. It added the Tirak powered hoist in 1975 and moved into height safety in the 1990s. Tractel has been part of the Swedish Alimak Group since November 2022.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Tractel lifting and load measurement products with the manufacturer technical sheets, for rigging, maintenance and construction teams in Oman and the GCC.
