RSL3000 is the 3080 ft.lbs (4176 Nm) drive unit of the Enerpac RSL “Ratcheting Slim Line” torque wrench family. It is a robust steel, 2-in-1 design: the same drive unit accepts RLP hexagon low profile cassettes or an RSQ square drive head, so one tool can follow a bolting job from hex nuts to square-drive sockets. The RSL3000 turns pump pressure into controlled torque with a drive unit that, according to Enerpac, completely encloses all moving parts, minimises pinch points and keeps only three moving parts for reduced maintenance. Selection and ordering guide

The RSL family has seven drive sizes, RSL1500 through RSL28000, rated 1408, 3080, 5303, 7862, 11,154, 18,843 and 28,002 ft.lbs. RSL3000 is the second step. Choose the cassette first: RLP3 cassettes cover 1 5/16 to 2 15/16 in (33 to 75 mm) across flats, and RLP3105 to RLP3215 are the listed order codes, with RLP3055M and RLP3060M for 55 mm and 60 mm. For square drive work the matching head is RSQ3000, sold as the RSQ3000ST set.

The manual states that the maximum torque of the wrench must always exceed the torque required, and that when loosening a nut the tool must never be run above 75 percent of its rated maximum. Enerpac also gives the rule of thumb that loosening torque is about 250% of tightening torque. Manual example: RLP3105 (1 5/16 in) weighs 3.5 lb and RLP3215 (2 15/16 in) 4.7 lb, both 1.38 in high.

Installation and operation notes

Instruction sheet L4346 asks the user to clean flanges and fasteners, check that nuts run freely, and align the joint before choosing a tightening method. For a legacy cross-pattern sequence on an 8-bolt flange it prints 1-5-3-7-2-6-4-8, with stages at 30%, 60% and 100% of final torque, then a final clockwise bolt-to-bolt pass until nuts stop rotating. Reaction must be taken on the reaction arm (preferred) or the flat housing surface, never on the drive splines.

The sheet reminds the user to fully couple the hoses at both the pump and wrench ends before applying pressure, never to connect or disconnect hoses with the pump on or the system pressurised, and to keep every hose, fitting and accessory within the 10,000 psi rating. It also recommends replacing the RSL and its components every 10,000 cycles.
