Dimensions, environment and approvals of the BMXNOC0401
The BMXNOC0401 weighs 0.2 kg. Mounting, derating and enclosure choices follow the environmental data below, which should be compared with the actual panel temperature and the dust and humidity of the site in Oman and the GCC.
Ambient temperature limits in the datasheet: 0 to 60 °C. Relative humidity: 10 to 95 % without condensation. Ingress protection: IP20. Standards listed: IEC 61131-2; IEC 61010-2-201; UL 61010-2-201; CSA C22.2 No 61010-2-201; IACS E10; IEC 61000-6-5, interface type 1 and type 2. Certifications listed for this reference: CE; UL; CSA; RCM; EAC; Merchant Navy; ATEX zone 2/22; IECEx zone 2/22.
Network modules are often blamed for faults that come from the network around them, so a structured approach helps with the BMXNOC0401. Start with the link LEDs on the four ports, then confirm addresses and subnet, then check the services running on the module. Use the diagnostic pages or the controller diagnostics to read the number of connections and the error counters; a growing error counter on one port points to a cable or switch problem. When the module is replaced, load the same configuration and confirm that the IP address and the device list are identical, otherwise the SCADA may refuse the connection. In larger systems, plan the use of the ports: one for the plant network, others for remote I/O or a redundant ring, as supported by the datasheet. Review the security settings with the IT team, switch off unused services and protect access to the configuration. In hot cabinets, keep airflow around the module, because network modules dissipate more heat than passive modules in the rack. A practical test before handover is a failover and recovery test: unplug one cable at a time while watching the diagnostics, then power-cycle the rack and confirm that all connections return without manual action. Record the time it takes, because a slow recovery after a power dip can show up as a nuisance alarm on the SCADA. Where several BMXNOC modules exist in the same plant, give each a clear name in the project and in the labels on the cabinet door so that a technician can tell them apart at a glance. Save the module configuration as a file and store it with the project on at least two independent media, and keep the firmware version in the same record.

Site conditions in Oman for the BMXNOC0401
Control cabinets in Gulf plants often run hot, because many sit in outdoor kiosks or in rooms where air conditioning is not always reliable. Before you finalise the BMXNOC0401, check the permitted ambient range and any derating stated by the manufacturer against the real temperature inside your panel, and leave the recommended spacing around the device so that heat can escape. Long cable runs between the field and the marshalling cabinet are common on large sites, so confirm the signal types, wiring limits and earthing arrangement early in the design.
It also helps to standardise on a small number of part numbers across a project. Keeping a few spare BMXNOC0401 units on site in Oman shortens recovery time after a fault, and documenting configuration settings makes replacement faster for the maintenance team.

About brand
Schneider Electric is the French group for energy management and industrial automation: low and medium voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, motor control, drives, PLCs, power monitoring, UPS systems and building management. Its history goes back to 1836, when the brothers Adolphe and Eugène Schneider took over the iron and steel works at Le Creusot in Burgundy. Over the 20th century the company left steel and heavy engineering and became an electrical group through acquisitions such as Merlin Gerin, Télémécanique, Square D and Modicon. Its head office is in Rueil-Malmaison near Paris, and its shares are listed on Euronext Paris.

- 1975: First investment in Merlin Gerin, a French maker of electrical distribution equipment.
- 1988–1992: Télémécanique, Square D (USA) and Merlin Gerin join the group, making it an electrical specialist.
- 1997: Modicon, the company behind the first programmable logic controller, joins the group.
- 1999: The group takes the name Schneider Electric.
- 2007 and 2014: APC (UPS and data centre power) and Invensys (process automation) are acquired.
Choosing Schneider Electric breakers and motor control
Circuit breakers are chosen by current and breaking capacity. Acti9 miniature circuit breakers (iC60, C120) protect final circuits up to 125 A. ComPacT NSX molded case breakers cover about 16 to 630 A, and the letter after the frame size sets the breaking capacity: B, F, N, H, S, L from lowest to highest. MasterPacT air circuit breakers are used as main incomers on large switchboards. For motors, a TeSys contactor with an LRD overload relay or a GV2 motor circuit breaker suits direct starting, an Altistart soft starter reduces starting current, and an Altivar drive controls speed. The breaking capacity must always be at least the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation.
Where Schneider Electric products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Schneider Electric equipment is found in main and sub-main switchboards of commercial and residential buildings, motor control centres in water, oil and gas and industrial plants, substations protected by Sepam and Easergy relays, data centres powered by Galaxy and APC UPS systems, and buildings controlled by EcoStruxure Building Operation.
APC by Schneider Electric: UPS and critical power
Since 2007, APC has been part of Schneider Electric and is now its product brand for uninterruptible power supplies, replacement batteries, battery packs, network management cards and rack power distribution. Our APC catalogue covers Smart-UPS line-interactive and on-line models, Easy UPS On-Line, the modular Symmetra LX, RM and PX ranges, Silcon three-phase systems and their spare part kits, and the RBC cartridges that keep them running.
