Pizzato FD 1001 Metal Position Switch with Plunger

Powder-coated metal limit switch with a plunger head for heavy-duty use

The FD 1001 is the plunger version of Pizzato Elettrica’s FD series, a metal-housed position switch with a powder-coated body, one threaded conduit entry and a hinged cover held with a single captive screw. The head is a plunger, so the machine element presses the switch end-on. The housing dimensions follow EN 50041, and the contact block is code 10: two normally open contacts with slow action.

FD sits in Pizzato’s heavy-application line above the technopolymer FR, FX and FK series. The series offers 17 contact blocks and 29 actuators, and versions with an M12 connector or gold-plated silver contacts are listed in the catalogue.

Where an FD fits

Metal bodies are chosen where the switch can be hit by tools, chips or moving loads, or where the enclosure has to survive a heavy duty cycle. Unlike the FR series, the FD housing is rated IP67 without the IP69K note, so for high-pressure washdown the technopolymer FR or the stainless FR 2001-X is the more suitable family.

The plunger head is the simplest to align: it needs only a flat surface to push it through its travel, and the catalogue’s travel diagrams show the stroke at which positive opening is reached.

Variants and ordering

Typical uses include end-of-travel detection on presses, gates, lifting tables and conveyor stops, where the housing has to resist knocks. Because the head is a plunger, the approach direction should be in line with its axis, and side loads on the plunger tip should be avoided.

The selection diagram lists contact blocks 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22 and E1, including snap-action, slow-action, make-before-break, shifted and an electronic PNP block. Actuators include rollers, adjustable levers, rods and rope heads. Specify the option letters for entry thread and cable gland, since these are not part of the base code.
