Petzl OK TRIACT-LOCK Aluminum Oval Carabiner

Description

An oval aluminum carabiner for pulleys, rope clamps and fall arresters

The Petzl OK (reference M33A TL for the TRIACT-LOCK version) is a lightweight aluminum oval carabiner. Its symmetrical oval shape allows optimal loading of devices with a wide cross-section such as pulleys, rope clamps and mobile fall arresters, and its fluid interior design limits catch points and helps the carabiner rotate. The Keylock system means the body-and-gate interface has no hook that could snag on anchors, ropes or harness equipment loops.

It comes with three locking systems: automatic TRIACT-LOCK with triple-action gate opening, automatic BALL-LOCK with a lock indicator, and manual SCREW-LOCK with a red band that is visible only when the carabiner is not locked. The CAPTIV bar can be fitted to keep the carabiner positioned along its major axis, to limit flipping and to keep it integrated with the device.

Choosing the locking system and loading it correctly

Automatic TRIACT-LOCK and BALL-LOCK gates relock without manual action, which suits connectors that are opened and closed many times a day. The manual SCREW-LOCK version is chosen where the user must close the sleeve deliberately, and its red band is a visual check. The instructions for use stress that a carabiner is strongest when loaded on the major axis with the gate closed; loading it on the minor axis or with the gate open reduces strength, so the figures above for minor axis and open gate must be respected.

Before each use check the frame, rivet, gate and locking sleeve, verify that the gate opens and closes automatically and completely, and make sure the Keylock hole is not blocked. Petzl recommends a detailed inspection by a competent person at least once every 12 months. When used in a fall-arrest system, the anchor must meet EN 795 (12 kN minimum strength).

About brand

Petzl is a French maker of work-at-height, rope access, climbing and caving equipment and headlamps, based in Crolles near Grenoble. The business grew from the work of cave explorer Fernand Petzl, a metal machinist who built rope ascenders and other caving tools, and became a company in the mid-1970s with his son Paul, who leads it today.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Petzl professional fall protection equipment for industrial, telecom and construction teams in Oman and the GCC.
