Ridgegear RGH17 Premium Rope Access 5-Point Harness

Description

RGH17 is the Ridgegear premium rope access five-point harness with a removable chest ascender, a built-in work positioning belt and Bosun chair attachment points. It conforms to EN 361:2002, EN 358:2018, EN 813:2008, EN 12277:2015 and EN 1497:2007 and weighs 2.8 kg.

Built for rope access teams

The harness offers fall arrest, work positioning and rescue capability. Padding with a built-in waist belt and leg loops reduces pressure over long shifts, breathable mesh lining keeps the wearer cooler, and chest straps are designed not to cut into the neck. A combination of steel alloy and aluminium hardware is used.

Attachment points include aluminium rear and chest D rings, an additional ventral point for rope access, and positioning D rings on the belt. Six tool loops are provided: four on the waist belt and one on each leg pad. Yellow, contrasting Bosun chair attachment points are fitted. The chest ascender suits users up to 120 kg.

Selection and ordering guide

The RGH17 is the choice for rope access, confined-space entry and technical climbing; the RGH7 on this site lacks the chest ascender and built-in belt. The RGP-5-1 Bosun seat on this site attaches to the integrated attachment points of the RGH17.

Instructions say the work positioning belt is approved up to 150 kg including tools, but the other approvals are at 140 kg.

Ordering note: choose the size (Small, Standard or Large) using Ridgegear’s published size guide, which lists user weights, and remember that the chest ascender limit of 120 kg is lower than the 140 kg harness limit when planning for heavier users.

Installation and operation notes

Fitting: step the legs into the waist belt, lift it to waist level, open the front vertical buckle and put the harness over the head, locate the waistbelt at the top of the hip, close the leg buckles, connect the top half to the bottom with the triple action connector, tighten the shoulder straps and check the rear D ring sits between the shoulder blades.

The chest ascender attaches with a webbing strap through the D ring and velcro, and connectors RGK12 and RGK1AT are named in the leaflet. Never use side positioning rings for fall arrest.

The leaflet reminds users that the sit suspension point is the central front D ring of the waistbelt, that it is not for fall arrest, and that the EN 813 maximum user weight is 140 kg. Examination by an independent competent person is required at least every 12 months, with results recorded, and the product marking carries traceability, waist size, maximum weight and notified body number.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Industrial rope access on flare stacks, columns, silos and building facades in the Gulf. The breathable lining and anti-bacterial webbing are useful in heat.

Rope access work needs trained teams and rescue plans; the instructions repeat that the user must be competent.

Cleaning and storage follow the same rules as other Ridgegear harnesses: mild detergent, clean warm water rinse, natural drying, and storage clear of heat, sunlight and sharp objects. In coastal GCC sites rinse salt and grit from buckles so the hardware keeps operating smoothly.
