Hughes STD-MH-P-1200L Towable Heated 1200 L Mobile Safety Shower

Description

The Hughes STD-MH-P-1200L is a towable, self-contained heated safety shower holding 1200 litres, with a closed bowl eye/face wash, for temporary work fronts and projects that move.

A 15 minute shower on a trailer

Employees at risk of exposure to hazardous substances need a shower wherever they work. This unit carries 1200 litres of water on a galvanised mild steel chassis with a rubber torsion beam axle, auto reverse brakes, a 40 mm eye coupling, a break-away cable, a parking brake, a jockey wheel, mud guards and a lighting board, so it can be towed behind a suitable vehicle.

The datasheet says it is designed to meet EN and ANSI standards and can deliver a continuous flow of tepid water for over 15 minutes at 76 litres per minute. An immersion heater keeps the water tepid, a pump drives the flow, and an optional insulated jacket is advised for colder months. The shower starts with a push down lever and the eye wash with the lid.

Towing, power and filling

The tank holds 1200 litres, which at 76 litres per minute is about 15.8 minutes, consistent with the 15 minute duty the datasheet states. The heater and pump need a 230 V supply on site, so a generator or temporary distribution board has to be provided. The datasheet lists separate flameproof and non-flameproof electrical ratings, so state the area classification when requesting a quotation.

Filling is through an 18 inch hinged manlid, so a water bowser or hose connection and a plan for refilling after every use are needed. Towing needs a vehicle with a suitable hitch, and the lighting board and breakaway cable are there for road or site-road movement; check local road-use requirements. The datasheet lists an ambient range of 0 to 35 C, and the optional insulated jacket is the manufacturer’s answer for the colder end.

Options and what to confirm before ordering

The page lists an insulated jacket as the only fitting for this model. Plan transport for 1530 x 3556 x 2770 mm and a full weight of 1460 kg, and confirm the supply voltage, whether flameproof electrical equipment is needed, the towing vehicle and the refill source. The manufacturer also offers the unit for hire.

How the Hughes STD-MH-P-1200L works

The polyethylene tank holds 1200 litres of water. An immersion heater keeps the water tepid and a pump drives the flow to the shower and the closed bowl eye wash. Pushing down the lever starts the shower and pulling the lid down starts the eye wash. The unit is towed to where the work is.
