Ridgegear RGP-2 Dorado Adjustable Work Positioning Lanyard

Description

RGP-2 is the Ridgegear Dorado adjustable work positioning and restraint lanyard, certified to EN 358:2018. It uses 11 mm polyamide rope with an aluminium adjuster that has no moving parts, and is made in lengths from 1 m to 30 m for a maximum user weight of 140 kg.

Precise length adjustment for positioning and restraint

As a work positioning lanyard (1 to 10 m) it has a polyester wear sleeve and aluminium double-action snap hook and triple-action karabiner; as a restraint line (10, 20 and 30 m) it uses an aluminium double-action scaffold hook with a triple-action karabiner. Weights are 0.4 to 1.2 kg for positioning and 1.5 to 3 kg for restraint. The black and grey patterned rope improves visibility.

The adjuster is designed to slide smoothly without snatching so the user can set the length for pinpoint positioning. Alternate connectors are available on request according to the data sheet.

Selection and ordering guide

Choose RGP-2 for hands-free positioning on poles, towers and structures, or as a restraint line to keep a worker away from an edge. It is not a fall arrest device: the instructions say never use a positioning lanyard for fall arrest and that it must be used with a fall arrest system such as an energy absorber lanyard to EN 355.

Restraint lanyards must be set to the shortest length possible for the task.

Ordering note: specify the length and the version when enquiring. The positioning version runs from 1 m to 10 m with a wear sleeve, while the restraint version is 10 m, 20 m or 30 m without it, and the connector set differs between the two. Alternate connectors can be requested from Ridgegear, so state whether a scaffold hook or a snap hook is wanted at the structure end.

Installation and operation notes

Connect to belt or harness points compatible with EN 358. Function test before use: pull the loose rope to shorten, pivot the device around the karabiner to release tension and lengthen. Releasing the device while adjusting secures the length. Position the anchor at or above waist level without slack.

Protect the lanyard from edges, since contact in a fall could cut it; anchor strength of at least 12 kN is specified.

Inspection covers the rope for cuts, abrasion and glazing, the wear sleeve, the stitching and terminations, the aluminium adjuster and the connectors, which must open and close and lock properly. The instructions require a risk assessment before use, including whether edge contact is possible, and a rescue plan. For a 2 m EN 355 lanyard used with it the anchor must be at least 6.75 m above the ground or obstacle below.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Construction, utilities, telecom towers and tree work are named by Ridgegear. GCC uses include pole and tower work and structural steel, always with a backup fall arrest system.

Clean with mild detergent and rinse in clean warm water, then dry naturally.

Keep a record card with the first-use date and inspection results, withdraw the lanyard if it has been in a fall or shows damage, and store it clean and dry away from heat, sunlight and sharp objects. The connectors named in the leaflet include RGK1, RGK11 and RGK61 options.
