NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro Progressing Cavity Dosing Pump

Description

Overview

The NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro is a compact, fully synthetic progressing cavity pump designed by NETZSCH for precise dosing and gentle, low-pulsation conveying of chemicals in environmental technology and the chemical industry. According to NETZSCH, the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro delivers continuous flow that is independent of pressure and viscosity fluctuations and gives dosing proportional to speed over the whole speed range. The NEMO brochure lists flow rates from 0.5 up to 1,500 l/h, pressures up to 20 bar and a dosing deviation of less than 1%. With only six main parts, the pump is simple to service and economical to run.

Seven Star LLC supplies the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro to water and wastewater treatment plants, desalination facilities, oil and gas chemical injection packages and industrial process plants in the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC. Our Muscat team helps customers select the pump size, elastomer and control option for each chemical, from our office in Muscat.

Working Principle

Like every NEMO pump, the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro is a rotary positive displacement pump in which a helical rotor turns eccentrically inside an elastomer stator. The closed cavities between rotor and stator move steadily from suction to discharge, so the chemical is transported without valves, without compression and with almost no pulsation. Because each revolution moves a fixed volume, the flow rate is proportional to speed, and adjusting motor speed adjusts the dose. This is the main difference from diaphragm metering pumps, whose stroke action produces a pulsed flow and relies on check valves.

NETZSCH states that the C.Pro handles solids-free and solids-containing media of low to medium viscosity up to 20,000 mPas, including thixotropic, dilatant, shear-sensitive, abrasive, lubricating and non-lubricating, aggressive (pH 0 to 14) and adhesive products. The direction of rotation, and therefore the direction of dosing, can be reversed.

Engineering Design of the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro

NETZSCH describes six main components. The rotating unit is a jointless, single-part assembly made of maintenance-free plastic; for abrasive or non-lubricating media, a rotor chromed in high-grade steel can be fitted. The pump comes as standard with an iFD stator, which consists of a reusable stator housing with a polygonal profile and an elastomer stator core; NETZSCH lists low breakaway torque, higher efficiency, longer operating life, simple and quick replacement and mono-material disposal as advantages.

The crevice-free mechanical seal of the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro sits in the product flow, so it is permanently flushed by the medium and solids cannot settle. The standard seal is a fully encapsulated, single-acting, bi-directional rubber boot seal with anti-friction faces of solid silicon carbide. Pump housing and connection are made of abrasion-proof, highly resistant polyurethane, and both use a universal flange with nominal width DN20 PN16 to DIN and 3/4 in. to ANSI B16.5 Class 150, making installation and removal easy. The standard drive is a speed-controlled six-pole three-phase motor with a frequency converter for control panel mounting; optionally, the motor can have a cooling fan and an integrated frequency converter for manual speed setting by potentiometer or control by a 4-20 mA or 2-10 V signal.

Key Features

Key features of the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro dosing pump include:

  • Dosing accuracy with a deviation of less than 1%, according to the NETZSCH brochure.
  • Constant and nearly pulsation-free dosing, proportional to rotation speed, over a large dosing range.
  • Reversible direction of rotation and dosing.
  • Fully synthetic construction suited to acids, alkalis and other aggressive chemicals from pH 0 to 14.
  • Only six main parts, which makes maintenance fast and keeps spare parts simple.
  • iFD stator technology with reusable housing and replaceable elastomer core.
  • Crevice-free, product-flushed mechanical seal with SiC faces.
  • Universal DN20 PN16 and 3/4 in. ANSI Class 150 flanges, and speed control by integrated or panel-mounted frequency converter.

Industrial Applications

NETZSCH lists chemical, pulp and paper, food and pharmaceutical, and battery industries among the fields of use for the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro. In Oman, the pump suits sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride, coagulant and polymer dosing in drinking water, sewage and desalination plants; antiscalant and biocide injection in reverse osmosis systems; acid and caustic dosing for pH control; and dosing of corrosion inhibitors and other additives in industrial utilities.

Because the flow is smooth, the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro can also dose shear-sensitive polymer solutions and slurries that are difficult for valve-based pumps. Seven Star LLC supplies the pump and spare stators, rotors and seals to customers in Muscat, Sohar, Duqm and Salalah and throughout the GCC.

Selection Notes (General)

This is general engineering guidance rather than manufacturer data. Size the NETZSCH NEMO C.Pro so that the normal dose falls well within the speed range of the chosen model, allowing turndown for future demand. Confirm elastomer compatibility with the chemical and temperature, and choose the steel rotor option for abrasive or non-lubricating media. Provide a pressure relief device on the discharge, since a positive displacement pump will build pressure against a closed valve.

About brand
Thick, abrasive or shear-sensitive media are where NETZSCH pumps are normally specified. The NETZSCH group dates from 1873 and has its base in Selb, Germany, and its Pumps and Systems business builds positive displacement pumps in several technologies. Seven Star LLC lists NETZSCH progressing cavity, rotary lobe and multi screw pumps, and supplies NETZSCH pumps and wear parts to plants in Oman as an independent supplier.

NETZSCH pump families listed here

The manufacturer groups its pumps under three main names, and one of each is listed. NEMO is the progressing cavity line, here the NEMO BY in block construction, model NM038BY. TORNADO is the rotary lobe line, with the TORNADO T2. NOTOS is the multi screw line, represented by the NOTOS 3NS three screw pump for lubricating liquids. People searching for a NETZSCH screw pump may mean either NEMO or NOTOS, so the nameplate matters. These pumps are found in wastewater, food, chemical and oil and gas service, all present in the GCC.

Ordering NETZSCH pumps and parts: what we need

Send the pump type and the machine or serial number from the nameplate. For spare parts name the item: rotor, stator, joint kit, seal, lobes. For a new pump give the medium, viscosity, solids content, temperature, flow, pressure and motor data.
