The ProMinent Sigma X S1Cb is a mechanically actuated diaphragm pump: an electric motor drives an eccentric mechanism that moves the diaphragm with a fixed 4 mm stroke, and the delivered volume is set by adjusting the stroke length from 0 to 100 percent in 1 percent steps with a self-locking rotary dial. Because the pump also uses an integral frequency converter, the stroke rate can be varied as well, so the combination of frequency and stroke length adjustment gives a wide control range.
