Moxa MGate 5135 Modbus to EtherNet/IP Gateway
Description
How the MGate 5135 bridges protocols
A one-port gateway that makes Modbus RTU, ASCII or TCP devices appear as an EtherNet/IP adapter, so Rockwell-style controllers can poll serial and Ethernet Modbus devices through implicit or explicit messaging. Moxa’s own one-line description of the MGate 5135 reads: 1-port Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP-to-EtherNet/IP gateways, -10 to 60°C operating temperature.
On the datasheet side, the power input is 12 to 48 VDC; operating temperature is -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F); dimensions are 25 x 90 x 130 mm (0.98 x 3.54 x 5.1 in); weight is 294 g (0.65 lb); the enclosure is rated IP30.
Standards and approvals printed for this model include safety standard EN 61010-2-201; UL 61010-2-201. Approvals can differ between variants of a series, so check the one on the exact order code.

Where it fits and what to check
The model shown in Moxa’s family photo is shared with the four-port MGate 5435, so check the port count on the order code. The serial port is DB9 male with built-in 2 kV isolation and supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485.
On the practical side, the housing is metal; the stated MTBF is 1,240,821 hrs; the warranty period is 5 years. Treat the MTBF as a manufacturer prediction under its stated method, not a guarantee for your site.
Please check the number of serial ports (1 for the 5135), whether you need Modbus client on both interfaces, and the supply range of 12 to 48 VDC before you place an order. Seven Star LLC supplies as an independent company and prices against the precise code requested.
Related models in the MGate 5135 family
Moxa groups the MGate 5135 with 3 related order codes under one family: MGate 5135, MGate 5135-T, MGate 5435, MGate 5435-T. Suffixes such as -T generally mark wide-temperature versions and fiber suffixes (M, S, MM, SS with SC or ST) mark the connector and fiber type, but the order code printed on the datasheet governs.

About brand
Moxa is the Taiwanese maker of industrial networking equipment: Ethernet switches, serial device servers, protocol gateways, media converters, secure routers and remote I/O. It was founded in Taiwan in 1987 and started with serial communication products before moving into industrial Ethernet. It is headquartered in Taipei.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Moxa switches, serial servers, gateways and converters, and supply them to control system integrators, utilities, oil and gas and building automation projects in Oman and the GCC by exact model.

The choice between switch types follows the network. An unmanaged switch simply forwards traffic and suits a small, isolated panel. A managed switch adds redundancy protocols (Moxa's Turbo Ring recovers a broken ring in milliseconds), VLANs to separate traffic, port mirroring and alarms, which a SCADA or DCS network needs. The suffix on a Moxa model also matters: "-T" means a wide operating temperature range (typically -40 to 75 °C), which is the safe choice for outdoor cabinets in the Gulf summer. "-MM-SC" or "-S-SC" means multi-mode or single-mode fibre with SC connectors.
Where Moxa products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Moxa equipment connects RTUs, PLCs, meters and protection relays in oil and gas fields, electrical substations, water and wastewater SCADA, transport, and building and energy management systems.
