Brand: Elkhart Brass
Elkhart Brass IMS-1000 1000 gpm Master Stream Nozzle
Description
A 1000 gpm nozzle with a wide 140 degree fog
The Elkhart Brass Select-O-Stream IMS-1000 is a fixed-gallonage master stream nozzle rated for 1000 gpm (3800 LPM) at 100 psi (7 bar). It sits in the Select-O-Stream family, which Elkhart describes as constant flow with a fully machined waterway, and it adds a wide 140 degree fog pattern for water curtains and vapor dispersion duty where a 90 degree fog is too narrow. The data sheet lists FM Approved 5511.
It has a 2.5 in NHT female swivel inlet for the standard Elkhart monitor outlet, a no-twist shutoff and a grease fitting for the tip threads. The pattern can be changed under flow from straight stream to fog, and the nozzle can flow water or premixed foam solution.

The data sheet tabulates discharge from 40 to 125 psi; at 100 psi the nozzle delivers 1000 gpm.
Choosing among the IMS nozzles
The IMS series covers 350, 500, 750 and 1000 gpm. The IMS-350 and IMS-500 have the wide 140 degree fog, and the IMS-500, IMS-750 and IMS-1000 are FM Approved according to the catalog. Elkhart publishes a separate manual for the IMS-750 and IMS-1000. Select the flow from the hazard, remembering that the monitor must carry the reaction force and that all 1000 gpm must be available at about 100 psi at the nozzle. A 1000 gpm stream also carries a large reaction force, so the monitor, its base and the supply pipework should be checked together with the nozzle rather than the nozzle alone. The wide fog pattern is what separates the IMS series from the narrower 90 degree fog of the CJ-B nozzles, and it is the main reason to choose it where a broad water curtain is wanted.
The IMS-1000 pairs well with the Stingray 8393 monitor, which lists the IMS-1000 among its recommended nozzles.

Confirm before ordering
For corrosive or coastal sites, the marine brass option is worth raising at the enquiry stage, because the standard brass and the marine grade are different alloys listed separately on the data sheet. The nozzle weighs 13.0 lb, so it adds little load to the monitor outlet compared with the water reaction forces at 1000 gpm. The tip is operated by hand with the handles, and the grease fitting allows the tip threads to be lubricated without dismantling the nozzle, which keeps the pattern change smooth after long periods of standing.
Confirm the inlet thread, the brass grade (standard or marine) and the flow and pressure available at the monitor. The attached Elkhart data sheet includes the discharge and reach tables and dimensions. Send the details for a quotation and see our other Fire Fighting equipment.
How the Elkhart Brass IMS-1000 works
Water or foam solution enters the nozzle through the swivel inlet and passes through a machined waterway. The nozzle holds the flow near its rated value as the pattern is changed. Turning the pattern ring moves the tip from a straight stream to a narrow or wide fog. The wide fog spreads the water into a curtain.
Where the IMS-1000 is used
- Fixed fire monitors on industrial sites
- Water curtains around tanks and plant
- Vapor dispersion duty
- Fire engine and trailer monitors

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the IMS-1000
Fit the nozzle to the monitor outlet with the seal in place. Check that the monitor and its base can carry the reaction force. Flush the supply line before the first use. Grease the tip threads at the fitting. Flow the nozzle at test intervals and look at the pattern.
