Ansul FM-200 Clean Agent Fire Suppression System

Description

Clean agent protection for people, data and equipment

The Ansul FM-200 fire suppression system protects occupied areas that contain assets which water would damage. Ansul describes FM-200 as a colorless, odorless clean agent that is electrically nonconductive, leaves no residue and does not thermally shock delicate circuitry. The low agent concentration and low toxicity mean less visual obscuration and minimal risk to people, and the system is intended for Class A, B and C fires.

Detection and agent release

The brochure recommends the AUTOPULSE detection system to introduce the agent quickly. It actuates a single fixed suppression or alarm system from fire detection inputs, and the detection circuits can be configured as cross, counting, independent or priority-zone schemes. The agent is released through fixed piping and nozzles, and each nozzle is sized to give the correct flow for the hazard.

Listed applications include art galleries, bank vaults, cell sites, communication centers, computer rooms and subfloors, control rooms, electronic data processing, flammable liquid storage, healthcare facilities, historical buildings, laboratories, libraries, museums, process control rooms, robotic systems, studios, tape storage libraries, transformer and switch rooms, and vaults and record storage.

What to confirm before ordering

The overview gives no cylinder sizes, fill ranges or part numbers. Confirm the enclosure volume, minimum temperature, fire class, the approval needed and whether the hazard needs a single container or a manifolded bank. A Kidde FM-200 cylinder is listed separately as Kidde FM-200 200 lb clean agent cylinder for comparison of cylinder-level data.

Documents and quotation

Attached: the Ansul FM-200 Fire Suppression System product overview (form F-2015173-01_A4, 2 pages). Treat it as a product summary; detailed ordering data sits in the manufacturer design and installation documents. A quotation request is easiest to answer with the hazard description, quantities and the standard the project follows. See Fire Fighting for related fire protection equipment.

About brand

Ansul is a fire protection brand of Johnson Controls, based in Marinette, Wisconsin, USA. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes Ansul clean agent, carbon dioxide, dry chemical and restaurant fire suppression systems against project requirements.

Ansul fire suppression systems

The manufacturer brochures describe INERGEN and SAPPHIRE clean agent systems, FM-200, high pressure carbon dioxide, the A-101 dry chemical system for vehicles and the R-102 restaurant system. AUTOPULSE control panels with smoke, heat and flame detectors release the gaseous systems, and a lithium-ion risk prevention system watches battery racks for off-gases. Each product page on this site carries the manufacturer brochure so the stated features, approvals and applications can be checked against the source document.

Choosing an Ansul system

The right agent depends on the hazard: clean agents for electronics and archives, carbon dioxide for machinery spaces and flammable liquids, dry chemical for mobile equipment and liquid agent for commercial kitchens. Send the protected volume, the hazard and the project standard so the system can be matched to the manufacturer design documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which fire classes does it cover?
Class A, B and C fires.
Is the agent conductive?
No. Ansul describes FM-200 as electrically nonconductive with no residue.
How many nozzle sizes exist?
Seven sizes, with seven or eight ports for 180 or 360 degree horizontal patterns.
Which standards are listed?
FM, UL, ULC, NFPA 2001, ISO-14520, EPA SNAP report and MEA.
Can containers be manifolded?
Yes. For large hazards agent containers can connect to a common manifold.
