KERN CFS 30K0.5 Counting Scale 30 kg x 0.5 g
Description
High-resolution counting scale with 100 item memories for stores and production
The KERN CFS 30K0.5 is a counting scale that weighs up to 30 kg with 0.5 g readability. Three backlit displays with 20 mm digits show weight, reference weight and total pieces at once, and a 20-key pad is used to enter reference quantities and weights. The counting resolution of 60,000 points allows small parts such as washers, fasteners, seals, O-rings and electrical terminals to be counted with a smallest piece weight of 5 g in normal operation and 500 mg under laboratory conditions.
KERN lists warehouse logistics, industrial applications, production monitoring, quality control, counting applications, order picking and inventory as main uses. A second balance interface lets the scale be linked to a larger platform, for example KERN KFP V20 weighing bridges, to build a counting system with a high resolution over a larger range. This is useful for stores that hold both screws and drums of the same spare part.
Key features from the KERN brochure
- 100 item memories for reference weight, reference quantity and container weight (PRE-TARE).

Selection and ordering guide
Three CFS models are printed in the brochure: CFS 6K0.1 (6 kg, 0.1 g, 60,000 points), CFS 15K0.2 (15 kg, 0.2 g, 75,000 points) and CFS 30K0.5 (30 kg, 0.5 g, 60,000 points). Select by the lightest part you must count: the smallest piece weight in normal conditions is 1 g, 2 g and 5 g respectively. Services: DAkkS calibration 963-128 and certificate of conformity 969-517. The datasheet gives no verification option.
Installation and operation notes
Level the scale with the feet and level indicator, allow the 120 min warm-up and adjust with a 10 kg or 20 kg F2 reference weight. Enter a known piece weight or count a sample of, for example, 10 or 20 pieces to teach the reference. Store frequently used parts in the 100 memories. With a protection class of IP23 for the device, keep it out of splash and heavy dust; ambient limits are 0 to 40 degrees C.
Applications in stores and manufacturing
Spare-part stores at utilities and plants, workshops that count bolts and fittings against work orders, electrical wholesalers counting terminals and cable glands, and packing lines that fill a fixed quantity per bag all use counting scales. The scale speeds up annual stock-taking by replacing manual counts with weighed counts. The pre-tare memory means a bin or tray weight is stored once and subtracted automatically, so the displayed piece total relates only to the parts. Because the reference weight is refined as more pieces are added, counts of mixed-tolerance fasteners become more consistent during a long stocktaking session.
Accessories and related items
KERN lists the signal lamp CFS-A03, RS-232 cables CFS-A01 and CFS-A04 (Y cable), protective covers CFS-A02, converter AFH 13, rechargeable pack GAB-A04, stainless steel fruit pan RFS-A02 and power adapters PFB-A02, PFB-A03, PFB-A04 and YKA-11. See also our portable test and measurement instruments.
Use and calibration notes
Counting scales are used in the region in stores, warehouses, production lines and workshops for stocktaking, kitting and packing small parts such as screws, fittings, electronic components and spare parts. For accurate counts, use a reference sample of enough pieces, as described in the manual, especially for small or light parts, and store frequently counted items in the item memory so the reference weight does not need to be found again.
Place the scale on a stable, level surface away from drafts and vibration. Check it regularly with a known test weight, and arrange calibration where readings are used for trade or quality records.
Keep a simple record of test-weight checks, so any drift can be seen early and calibration arranged in good time. Recheck the stored reference weights when the parts supplier or the part design changes.
