The KERN BFC 3T-3M is a low-profile floor scale for pallets, crates and drum loads up to 3000 kg. The weighing plate measures 1500 x 1250 mm and is only 85 mm high, so loads can be wheeled on with a pallet truck over the optional access ramp. Four alloyed steel load cells are silicone-coated and protected against dust and water splashes to IP67, and the powder-coated steel plate has a smooth surface that is screwed on from the top, which KERN says makes it easy to remove and clean.

The display device has a 48 mm backlit digit height and is connected by a 5 m cable, so it can be wall-mounted or placed on the benchtop stand supplied as standard. Brochure uses include industry, logistics and dispatch, warehousing, the building materials industry, scrap and recycling and metal processing. The datasheet marks the display itself as having no IP protection, so only the platform and load cells are sealed.

Installation and operation notes

Set the platform on a firm, level floor and level it with the feet and level indicator. A pit frame (BFS-A04N) allows flush installation, and base plates (BFS-A06N) and the access ramp (BFS-A02N, 1250 x 740 x 90 mm) help with loading. Route the 5 m display cable clear of forklift paths; a 15 m cable BFB-A03 is available. After the 10 min warm-up, adjust with 3000 kg (M1). The display has no IP protection, so mount it away from direct water spray.

Install the floor scale on a firm, level surface, or in a pit frame where loads are moved on with forklifts. Use the access ramp for pallet trucks, and avoid dropping loads onto the plate. Check the scale regularly with a known test load and arrange calibration where readings are used for trade or dispatch records.
