Adam Equipment PT Platform Scales, 1000 and 3000 kg

Description

The Adam PT 110 belongs to the PT range of industrial platform scales: a steel base with diamond-plate surface, adjustable levelling feet and a shielded cable of about five metres. The range runs from 1000 kg on a 1000 x 1000 mm pan to 3000 kg on a 1500 x 1500 mm pan, and is sold with or without an indicator.

Floor-level weighing for pallets, drums and parts

Platforms like these are used at goods-in, dispatch, fabrication and maintenance stores to weigh pallets, drums, crates and machine parts. The diamond-plate surface adds grip, optional ramps (10R, 12R and 15R, 1000, 1200 and 1500 mm wide) simplify loading by pallet truck or trolley, and four load cells sit under the platform. Adam notes that the platform can be used with any Adam indicator, including GK-S, GK-Plus, GC, AE 403, AE 503, AE 504 and AE 505.

Choosing size, capacity and indicator

The pan size follows the largest pallet or object, and the capacity follows the heaviest gross load. Note that the model numbers read the other way round from capacity: PT 110, PT 112 and PT 115 are the 1000 kg models, while PT 310-5, PT 312-5 and PT 315-5 are 3000 kg models with 0.5 kg readability. A 1000 kg scale reads to 0.2 kg, which is better for light loads; the 3000 kg scales suit heavy pallets at coarser resolution.

Pair a counting indicator with the platform for parts, a checkweighing indicator for limits, or a label-printing indicator when each load needs a ticket. In a washdown or dusty area a stainless IP68 indicator is more suitable than a basic one. The platform on its own is not an indicator, so an indicator must be selected and quoted with it.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the pan size against the load, the capacity and readability, the indicator and cable, ramps, the floor condition and the working temperature range. The datasheet lists no legal-for-trade approval for the PT range. Other weighing and measuring equipment is listed under portable test and measurement instruments.

Installation and use notes: place the platform on a flat, rigid floor, set the adjustable feet so that all four load cells carry weight evenly, route the shielded cable away from power cables and keep it intact, because the cable length is part of the load cell connection. Centre the load on the pan where possible, and use the ramps for trolley or pallet-truck loading so the platform is not shock-loaded. External calibration allows the system to be checked with test weights after installation and at regular intervals, and the weight units are selected on the connected indicator.

Key features of the PT platform range

  • Low-profile steel base: the modest overall height keeps the step onto the platform small, and optional ramps let pallet trucks roll on without lifting.
  • Diamond-plate deck: the textured surface gives grip for operators and loads, and resists wear from pallet truck wheels.
  • Four load cells: the load is shared across the corners so that off-centre pallets are weighed consistently.
  • Adjustable levelling feet: allow the platform to be set level on imperfect warehouse floors.
  • Indicator choice: compatible with the full Adam indicator line-up, from basic weighing to counting, checkweighing and label printing.

Matching the platform to the job

Start with the largest object that has to sit fully on the platform. A load that overhangs the deck can rest partly on the floor or ramp and read low, so the pan must be at least as large as the base of the pallet, drum stand or crate. Then look at the heaviest gross load, including the pallet and, if used, the pallet truck. Many sites weigh by driving a hand pallet truck onto the scale and taring it off, which needs both capacity margin and a ramp.

Resolution is the third factor. A scale that reads in coarse steps is fine for shipping weights of full pallets, but less suitable for checking small part quantities. If one platform must handle both very heavy and fairly light loads, the 1000 kg models with finer readability may be the better compromise, provided the heaviest load stays within capacity.

Indicator functions to consider

Decide what the operator needs to see and record: simple gross and net weight, parts counting, over and under limits, accumulation of totals, or a printed or exported record for each load. Interfaces for a printer or PC are provided by the indicator, so the indicator selection drives integration with stock control or ERP systems.

Installation, calibration and care

Place the platform on a solid, flat, level floor away from vibration sources and drafts. Set all four feet so that the platform does not rock, and confirm level before calibration. Route the load cell cable where forklifts and trolleys cannot crush it, and protect it with a cover or conduit if it crosses a walkway.

Calibration is external, using certified test weights of suitable total mass. Plan periodic checks according to your quality system, and after any relocation or heavy impact. Avoid dropping loads onto the deck, as shock loading is the most common cause of load cell damage. Keep the area under the platform free of debris, which can bridge between the base and floor and cause errors. In dusty sites, regular cleaning around the platform edges keeps the weighing free from friction.

Uses in Oman and GCC facilities

PT platforms are common in logistics warehouses, port-side stores, construction material yards, chemical drum filling and dispatch, fabrication workshops weighing steel parts, and food distribution centres. Combined with a stainless IP-rated indicator, they also serve areas with periodic wet cleaning. For trade use, check local legal metrology requirements before selecting the configuration.

What to include in an RFQ

  • Model required or the pan size and capacity needed.
  • Indicator model and any functions such as counting or printing.
  • Ramp size if loads are rolled onto the scale.
  • Whether the scale is for internal use or trade-approved weighing.
  • Quantity and delivery site.
