Hydac LPFH ON 325 E F 10 A 1.0/12 Inline Filter, 500 psi

Description

A lightweight inline cartridge filter that replaces spin-on filters

The Hydac LPFH ON 325 E F 10 A 1.0/12 (HYDAC catalogue item 2207268) is a size 325 inline filter in the LPFH series. A cast aluminum head carries a cold-formed aluminum bowl, giving a unit of 8 lb that suits mobile machines. HYDAC presents the range as a desirable substitute for spin-on filters when dynamic conditions call for the durability and leak-proof quality of a cartridge filter. This code is rated 87 gpm (325 L/min) and 500 psi (34 bar), with a 10 micron element and 1 1/2 inch SAE straight-thread ports.

Reading the code

LPFH ON 325 E F 10 A 1 . 0 / 12: LPFH is the inline filter, ON the element media shown on the catalogue item, 325 the size, E the 500 psi rating, F the 1 1/2 inch threaded connection, 10 the micron rating, A no indicator, 1 the type number, 0 the modification number and /12 the SAE parallel straight thread ports. The datasheet key lists Sustainmicron, Betamicron and wire mesh media, so confirm the ON element with the supplier. In the standard configuration the datasheet supplies the filter without a bypass; where there is no bypass, HYDAC advises using the 5 bar indicator and replacing the element when it trips.

Where it is used

The datasheet lists agricultural, automotive, construction, industrial and steel industry applications. The simple inline layout holds pressure drop down and makes the filter compact, and quick-response bypass valves are optional in the head to protect against cold starts and flow surges, with 3, 5 or 6 bar settings. Because aluminum alloy tolerates water, the housing can be used with high-water-based fluids without anodizing. The 2 bar optional and 5 bar standard indicator trip points let you choose when the element is called for.

Allow clearance below the bowl for element removal and choose the mounting hole option that suits your bracket. Replace the element when an electrical or visual indicator trips, as unfiltered oil can pass a bypass if one is fitted.

The datasheet also notes integrated retrofit protection and a fluid temperature range of -30 to +100 °C, wider at the cold end than the return filters in the RF family, which suits mobile machines working in cold climates and hot workshops alike.

As a spin-on replacement, the cartridge design lets you change only the element rather than the whole can, which cuts waste and lowers the cost of ownership. Confirm the spare element code and keep one in stock for planned maintenance.

How the LPFH ON 325 E F 10 A 1.0/12 works

The LPFH ON 325 E F 10 A 1.0/12 is installed directly in a pressure or return line. Oil enters through the side inlet in the cast aluminum head, flows down into the aluminum bowl and passes through the cartridge element from outside to inside. The filtered oil then rises through the element core and leaves through the side outlet, which is in line with the inlet. Particles stay on the element surface. To service the filter, you unscrew the bowl and change only the element. The housing stays in the line, unlike a spin-on can, which has to be replaced complete.

This configuration has no bypass valve and no clogging indicator: the indicator port is plugged (code A). All the oil therefore passes through the element. HYDAC notes that a filter without a bypass should use the 5 bar indicator, and that the element must be replaced when it trips. If you do not fit an indicator, you need to plan element changes on a fixed schedule.

Selection & ordering guide

  • Media: the current HYDAC key lists SN Sustainmicron and BH4HC Betamicron high-collapse elements at 3, 5, 10 and 20 µm, and W/HC wire mesh at 25–200 µm. The ON media printed on this catalogue item is not in the current key, so our team can help confirm the correct ordering code for the replacement element.
  • Bypass: omit for no bypass (as here), B3 = 43 psid or B6 = 87 psid.
  • Indicators: A (as here), B or BM visual pop-up, BF visual analogue (mounted left or right with BFL or BFR), C electric SPDT switch, and D switch with LED. Indicators are offered at 2 bar or 5 bar trip points, with optional lamp voltages, a T100 thermal lockout and cRUus approval.
  • Seals and fluids: NBR standard, V for FKM. SO263 covers phosphate esters and W covers HFA/HFC fluids. SFREE elements minimise electrostatic charge.
  • Ports: /12 = SAE straight thread (as here), /0 = G 1 1/2 BSPP.

Replacement elements follow the pattern 0325 D 010 + media, for example 0325 D 010 SN. Clogging indicators use the VM prefix for the G 1/2 port, for example VM 5 B.X for a 5 bar auto-reset pop-up.

Installation & maintenance

  • Mount the head with the 5-hole pattern so that the bowl hangs down. Leave about 190 mm below the bowl to remove the element.
  • Respect the flow direction marked on the head; inlet and outlet must not be swapped.
  • Relieve pressure and drain the bowl through the G 1/2 drain port before you unscrew it.
  • Because the LPFH ON 325 E F 10 A 1.0/12 has no bypass, consider adding a 5 bar indicator in the G 1/2 port to show when the element must be changed.
  • Check the bowl O-ring at every element change and replace it if it is damaged.

Typical applications in Oman & the GCC

The light aluminum construction suits mobile machinery: construction and agricultural equipment, truck-mounted hydraulics and compact power units. In the GCC, the LPFH ON 325 E F 10 A 1.0/12 is a practical cartridge upgrade for medium-pressure circuits that would otherwise use spin-on filters, especially on equipment working in dusty desert conditions.

About brand

HYDAC is the German hydraulics group known for hydraulic filters, accumulators and electronic pressure and temperature sensors. It was founded in 1963 in Sulzbach, Saarland, by Werner Dieter and Otmar Schön. The name comes from "hydraulic accumulator", the first product it made under licence. It is still a family company headquartered in Sulzbach.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list HYDAC filters, filter elements, accumulators, pressure transmitters and switches, and supply them for hydraulic power units, turbines, compressors and mobile machines in Oman and the GCC.

Most hydraulic failures start with dirty or wet oil. That is why a system has filters at several points: a pressure filter in front of sensitive valves, a return filter that cleans what comes back to the tank, and a breather that stops dust and humidity entering as the oil level moves. The filter element's rating (for example 3, 10 or 25 µm) and its material decide what cleanliness class the oil reaches. On HYDAC sensors, the type code also sets the pressure range, the output and the connector. For example, HDA 4445-A-400-000 is a 4-20 mA transmitter for 0-400 bar.

Where HYDAC products are used

In Oman and the GCC, HYDAC filters, accumulators and sensors are used on turbine and compressor lube oil systems, hydraulic power units, offshore and marine hydraulics, cranes, presses, steel and aluminium plants, and construction and mobile machines.
