GESTRA NRGT 26-2 Capacitive Level Transmitter

Description

A capacitive level transmitter for steam boilers and feedwater tanks

The GESTRA NRGT 26-2 is a capacitive level transmitter that continuously measures water level in steam boilers, hot water installations and condensate or feedwater tanks. The calibrated 0 to 100 % measuring range is output as a linear, galvanically isolated 4 to 20 mA signal, described in the datasheet as a secure (SIL 2) actual value output that can be used with a suitable level controller, for example as a water level controller with MIN/MAX alarm. The transmitter has no controlling or limiting function itself. A green four-digit display shows the reading, status and error codes.

Installation notes from the datasheet

The transmitter is installed inside the boiler or tank, in a protective tube provided on site, or in an external level pot, and can share a protective tube with a GESTRA NRG 1x-60 or NRG 1x-61 conductive electrode. The electrode rod must not be shortened. For protective tubes of 1,000 mm or more a ring-shaped mounting bracket is required at about 900 mm, with an additional bracket near the end from 1,500 mm. A safety extra-low-voltage 24 V DC supply is required, and screened multi-core cable of at least 0.5 mm2, up to 100 m, is recommended.

What to confirm before ordering

Specify the connection (G3/4 thread or DN 50 flange), the electrode length and measuring range from the order table, the fluid conductivity and the level controller or level switch it will feed (the datasheet lists NRS 2-50, NRS 2-51, NRR 2-50, NRR 2-52 and NRR 2-53). A related boiler instrument is the GESTRA LRGT 16-1 conductivity transmitter; more are in Level Instrumentation.

About brand

Steam and condensate equipment has been GESTRA's field since 1902, when the company started in Bremen, Germany. Its steam traps, non-return valves and boiler control electronics are found in boiler houses worldwide. Seven Star LLC lists the GESTRA LRGT 16-1 conductivity transmitter, the NRGT 26-2 level transmitter and UNA series ball float steam traps, and supplies GESTRA boiler control parts, valves and steam trap spares to plants in Oman as an independent supplier.

GESTRA LRGT 16-1 and GESTRA boiler control

The LRGT 16-1 is a conductivity transmitter screwed into the boiler shell or blowdown line. It measures the electrical conductivity of the boiler water, which indicates the dissolved solids content, and sends a 4-20 mA signal to a conductivity controller that operates a continuous blowdown valve. The manufacturer also names condensate and feedwater monitoring as uses. The transmitter belongs with the GESTRA level electrodes, limiters and controllers fitted to steam boilers in the GCC, which is why searches for GESTRA boiler control and GESTRA boiler spare parts often end at this type of component.

Ordering GESTRA parts: what we need

Send the type designation and the data from the name plate: pressure rating, connection thread, measuring length, supply voltage and serial number. Tell us which controller and blowdown valve the transmitter works with, and the boiler pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What output does the NRGT 26-2 provide?
A galvanically isolated 4 to 20 mA signal proportional to level, with 0 mA output on a fault.
What supply voltage is needed?
24 V DC, plus or minus 20 %, from a SELV power supply.
What is the pressure and temperature rating?
PN 40, 32 bar (abs) at 238 degC.
What is the difference between NRGT 26-2 and 26-2s?
The 26-2 has a G3/4 A thread; the 26-2s has a DN 50 PN 40 flange.
Does it limit or control the level by itself?
No. It only measures and transmits level; control or limiting needs a suitable level controller or switch.
