VEGA VEGADIS 82 External Display for 4-20 mA HART Sensors
Description
A loop-powered display that also adjusts HART sensors
The VEGADIS 82 is a loop-powered external display and HART adjustment unit for 4…20 mA/HART sensors. It is wired into the signal line at any location in the loop and acts as a pure display instrument in a 4…20 mA current loop, so it can serve as an external display for a four-wire sensor, a VEGAMET controller or a VEGATRENN separator with an active 4…20 mA output. When used with a HART sensor it works as master and adjusts the sensor parameters via HART, using the PLICSCOM display and adjustment module with four keys and a dot-matrix LC display. A filter element in the housing also provides atmospheric pressure compensation for a connected submersible pressure transmitter.

Choosing a loop display
A loop display costs voltage: VEGA states a maximum of 1.7 V without lighting and 3.2 V with lighting, so the loop supply must cover that on top of the transmitter’s minimum voltage and the load. HART communication adds a requirement for loop resistance. With a standard HART sensor, the VEGADIS 82 works in the loop in master mode, so any HART-compliant sensor on the loop can be adjusted through its standard parameters, which VEGA lists as a universal-use benefit.
Typical placements
Use it beside a four-wire radar, next to a VEGAMET controller, or on the cable of a submersible probe such as the VEGAWELL, where the housing’s ventilation filter also provides the vent for the cable’s reference tube. The plastic housing is rated IP66/IP67 and the aluminium or stainless-steel housings IP66/IP68, and a panel-mount version exists. Give the sensor, HART requirement and the housing material when you request a quotation, and confirm Ex approval with VEGA for hazardous-area use.
Mechanically the sheet gives a weight of about 0.35 kg, the same as the VEGADIS 81, with spring-loaded terminals and M20 x 1.5 or ½ NPT cable entry, and a panel-mounting version with IP40 and NEMA 1 protection. The ambient temperature is -20 to +70 °C. The sheet notes that data in the safety instructions apply for approved instruments, so if the display will sit in a hazardous area the approval and its electrical limits must be checked on the certificate before ordering.
Documents and quotation
The official VEGA VEGADIS 82 (4…20 mA/HART) specification sheet (47647-EN, version 200814) is attached to this page for download and covers the technical data, dimensions and wiring summarised above.
For a quotation, tell us the medium, tank or channel dimensions, output signal, hazardous-area requirement and quantity. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, will respond with availability and a commercial offer; other level instrumentation is on our site. Always verify the complete order code against VEGA’s configurator before you place an order.

About brand
VEGA is a German maker of level and pressure instruments. Bruno Grieshaber founded the company in 1959 in Triberg in the Black Forest, and it has been based in Schiltach since 1975, still family owned as VEGA Grieshaber KG. VEGA is best known for radar level sensors: it introduced the first two-wire radar level sensor in 1997 and the first 80 GHz radar sensor for bulk solids, the VEGAPULS 69, in 2015.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing VEGA radar and guided wave radar transmitters, point level switches, pressure transmitters and signal conditioning instruments for buyers in Oman and the GCC. Sensors are matched from the product code on the type label.

Where VEGA instruments are used
VEGA radar sensors measure level in crude oil and product tanks, separators, chemical reactors, cement and aggregate silos, grain stores and water reservoirs. Compact cable radars are widely used in wastewater pumping stations and flood monitoring. Because 80 GHz radar focuses a narrow beam, it can measure past internal structures in a tank, and it is not affected by the temperature, pressure or vapour above the product, which suits hot Gulf storage tanks.
Ordering VEGA instruments: what we need
The product code on the type label (for example PS64.XXXXXXX) fixes the measuring range, antenna or probe, process connection, electronics and approvals. Send it with the serial number. For a new measurement add the medium and its dielectric constant if known, tank or silo height and internals, process pressure and temperature, process connection, output (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS PA, Modbus or IO-Link), and any hazardous-area or overfill protection approval required.
