Evident NORTEC 600 Eddy Current Flaw Detector

Description

A field-ready eddy current flaw detector for surface cracks, weld and tube inspection

The Evident NORTEC 600 is a portable eddy current flaw detector designed to meet EN 15548 and IP66, with a 5.7 inch VGA display, 10 Hz to 12 MHz frequency range and up to 10 hours of battery life. It weighs 1.7 kg (3.7 lb) with its lithium-ion battery and is offered in four models: basic, conductivity (C), rotary scanner (S) and dual frequency (D). Evident lists surface crack inspection, weld inspection, wheel inspection, bolt hole inspection with rotary scanners, conductivity and coating thickness measurement, and heat exchanger tube inspection with automatic mixing on the dual-frequency model.

Models

Model Version Added capability
N600 Basic Core eddy current functions
N600C Conductivity Adds conductivity and coating thickness measurement
N600S Scanner Adds rotary scanner support
N600D Dual frequency Adds dual frequency, mixing and the all-in-one display

The basic model includes signal calibration in Freeze mode, real-time readings, application selection presets and POWERLINK probe support. Standard inclusions listed by Evident are the hand strap, getting started manual, calibration certificate, rigid transport case, DC charger, lithium-ion battery, AA battery tray, USB cable, microSD card and NORTEC PC software; the conductivity models add a 19 mm 60 kHz conductivity probe, standards and shims.

Selection and use

Choose the model by the job: the basic unit for surface crack and weld work, the S model for bolt hole inspection with a rotary scanner, and the D model for heat exchanger tubing or other work that needs two frequencies and mixing. Check that existing probes and scanners are compatible, including legacy connectors via adaptors, and confirm the probe frequency range against the procedure. Options such as an alarm booster, chest harness and soft pouch are listed. Related instruments are listed under Handheld Flaw Detectors, including the Waygate Krautkramer USM 36.

About brand

Evident makes nondestructive testing, remote visual inspection and material analysis instruments, building on more than a century of Olympus heritage. Its inspection business joined Wabtec Corporation in 2025, and the Evident name is planned to transition to Wabtec Inspection Technologies in 2027. Seven Star LLC supplies Evident ultrasonic thickness gauges, flaw detectors, eddy current instruments and XRF analyzers to inspection teams in Oman and the GCC on inquiry.

Evident ultrasonic and eddy current instruments

The range includes handheld ultrasonic thickness gauges such as the 39DL PLUS and 45MG, EPOCH conventional flaw detectors, NORTEC eddy current flaw detectors and OmniScan phased array systems, together with a broad line of transducers, probes and accessories. Gauges for corrosion mapping and wall thickness checks sit alongside weld inspection instruments, so one manufacturer can cover several inspection methods on a refinery shutdown or a pipeline project.

Material analysis and visual inspection

Evident also lists Vanta handheld XRF analyzers for alloy identification and positive material identification, and IPLEX video borescopes for remote visual inspection of pipes, vessels and machinery. Specifying the correct model depends on the material, the thickness range, the code or procedure and the site conditions, and we check the order code against the manufacturer's documentation before quoting.
