Brand: Camlok
Camlok TRU Round Stock Grab, 100-4000 kg WLL
Description
A latching grab for pipe, bar and round stock up to 600 mm
The Camlok TRU is a roundstock grab that picks up round stock and pipe up to 600 mm in diameter. The latch is operated through the hoist: lowering onto the load until the sling goes slack releases the latch, hoisting closes the arms on the load, and lowering until the sling is slack again re-engages the latch when the load is set down. The grab is for horizontal round material, bundles of round material, pipes and other loads with symmetrical rotation.
Six models are listed with working load limits of 100, 500, 1000, 1500, 3000 and 4000 kg. Each exists as a standard grab and as a version with protective lining, with different article numbers, and the lined version suits sensitive surfaces such as carpet or paper reels, according to the manual.

Grab notes
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Rubber lining | Jaw capacity reduces by approximately 4 mm when fitted |
| Lined versions | Surfaces must be dry, clean and free of oil and grease |
| Direction of lift | Materials shall only be lifted vertically |
| Turning | A load at WLL can be turned through 180 degrees in the plane of the clamp (manual) |
| Latch | Inspect for faults per the manual figure |
| Shackle | Not supplied |
Choosing by diameter and weight
Jaw capacity is the diameter range: the TRU500 and TRU1000 both take 35 to 200 mm and weigh the same 13.6 kg (the same body at two capacities, derived from the table); the TRU1500 and TRU3000 take 80 to 300 mm; the TRU4000 takes 200 to 600 mm and weighs 208 kg. So a 450 mm pipe needs the TRU4000 and a 100 mm bar could be a TRU100, TRU500 or TRU1000 depending on weight.
Choose lined or standard by the load surface. With rubber lining the jaw capacity is reduced by about 4 mm, so check small diameters against the lower limit. The manual also covers the TPR steel grab for girders and profiles, but that is a different product with its own code and is not covered by this page.
Using the grab and its latch
Per the manual: confirm the product is clean of grease, standing water, oil, scale or coating, centre the grab over the load and lower it until the hoisting sling goes slack so the latch releases (a grab with a manual latch is lowered onto the load and the latch handle lifted). Hoist to grip, and keep hands off every part of the grab while it moves. To reposition, slacken the sling again and the latch re-engages.
Lift one load at a time, slowly, with vertical slings and the load close to the ground. Long stock needs two grabs and a lifting beam. On setting down, make sure the load will be stable when released and the grab has room to open fully, then push the latch down and lift the grab clear. Inspection items include smooth action, weld cracks, shell plates, tooth cleaning, lubrication, fasteners and a latch check shown in the manual figure; a repaired grab is proof tested to twice the WLL before use.
Pipe racks, bar stock and reeled goods
TRU grabs speed up handling of pipe lengths, bar and round bundles in pipe yards, steel stockholders, fabrication shops and warehouses, and the lined version helps with paper and carpet reels. Because the latch works through the hoisting sling, the grab does not need to be strapped to the load. The grab is for vertical lifting only and the stock must be within the jaw range, so measure the largest and smallest diameter handled before selecting.
Selection and installation notes
Lifting clamps and grabs must be selected from the working load limit, the thickness and size of the load and the lifting angle, and used only by trained people under the site lifting procedure. Check the working load limit and the range on the marking, inspect the clamp before each use, never exceed the rated load or the stated angle, keep people away from the load and follow the periodic examination rules of the country where it is used. Damaged or worn clamps are taken out of service.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

The manual shows the TPR steel grab for girders and profile steel alongside the TRU. Shackles are not supplied with the grab, and the lined versions have separate article numbers, so state whether lining is required when ordering.
Frequently asked questions
What is the largest diameter a TRU can lift?
Up to 600 mm, on the TRU4000 with a 200 to 600 mm jaw capacity.
How does the latch work?
Lowering until the sling is slack releases or engages the latch; hoisting then closes the grab on the load, per the manual.
Is there a version for delicate surfaces?
Yes, each model has a version with protective lining and its own article number.
Does lining change the jaw range?
Yes, the jaw capacity is reduced by approximately 4 mm with rubber lining.
Is a shackle included?
No, the shackle is not supplied.

About brand
Camlok is a British manufacturer of plate clamps and lifting clamps, based at the Sealand Industrial Estate in Chester. It started on 6 February 1958 as Deeweld, set up by an insurance salesman and a railway clerk, and became Camlok Lifting Clamps Ltd in 1998. Since 1999 it has been part of Columbus McKinnon. Camlok clamps use a cam and jaw design that grips harder as the load increases.
