Enerpac SFP837MD Diesel Split-Flow Hydraulic Pump, 8 Outlets

SFP837MD is an Enerpac diesel-powered split-flow hydraulic pump with eight outlets, manual 4-way, 3-position valves and 30 gal of usable oil. Where a conventional multi-point lift needs a generator, cables and an electric pump, this unit carries its own Kubota diesel engine, so a synchronised lifting or skidding job can run on a remote, temporary or power-limited site. The maximum operating pressure is 10,000 psi [700 bar].

A self-contained power source for synchronised lifting

The key idea is the split-flow, check-ball piston pump. Multiple independent pistons on one shaft each deliver the same flow rate to a separate circuit, so each connected cylinder extends at the same rate even if pressure differs between circuits. With an offset centre of gravity the jacks still rise together, while the pressure gauges read differently, and the manual notes the same behaviour on the retract stroke with double-acting jacks.

Each circuit has its own control valve, relief valve, pressure gauge and counterbalance valve. A master control valve dumps all flow to tank in neutral, so selected circuits start together when it is shifted on. The manual says this valve should never be feathered, because partial opening can cost synchronisation.

Selection and ordering guide

The SFP-D family has three diesel models: SFP419MD (4 outlets, 24 HP), SFP634MD (6 outlets, 65 HP) and SFP837MD (8 outlets, 65 HP). Pick by the number of lift points you need on one unit. Single-acting cylinders need optional V10E flow control valves in the return port couplers; with them jacking is synchronous but lowering is not, so keep the load stable on the way down.

The product page lists a different weight and horsepower from the instruction sheet, so this page uses the manual values. All hoses, couplers and cylinders in the circuit should be rated for 10,000 psi [700 bar].

Installation and operation notes

Before starting, check diesel, coolant and engine oil, hydraulic oil level and colour, the V82 valves closed, V10E valves open for single-acting work, and the circuit valves neutral. Start sequence: key to RUN, wait for the glow plug light, then START. Idle at 1000 to 1500 rpm, and for normal jobs run at 1800 to 2400 rpm; do not exceed 2400 rpm. Warm up at least five minutes. A block heater is fitted, and below 10 C the manual points to its cold-weather appendix.

Run cylinders through two complete extend and retract cycles to purge air whenever hoses and cylinders are first connected. Use the cooling fan if the oil gets hot, since the manual warns against excessive oil temperature. Maintenance: inspect before each use, check the return oil filter indicator (MP Filtri element MF1002A10HBP01), and inspect and clean the reservoir at least once a year. The unit is filled with HF ISO 32 fluid.
