Brand: Elcometer
Elcometer 108 Hydraulic Adhesion Tester
Description
Hydraulic adhesion tester for pipelines, tanks and curved surfaces
The Elcometer 108 is a hand-powered, portable Type III hydraulic adhesion tester. Instead of a mechanical lift it uses a hydraulic push-off principle, so tests can be made on flat or curved, concave and convex surfaces. Elcometer describes it as the ideal gauge for coatings on tanks and pipelines, including small-diameter pipe, where a range of curved dollies is available for specific curvature ranges. The stainless steel dollies are reusable.
It is supplied with either an analogue dial gauge (108/1) or a digital gauge (108/2). The digital version holds the maximum value reached, has a backlit display for dark areas, a rubber protective casing and switchable metric or imperial units.
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Ordering codes | F108—1D and F108—1C (analogue); F108—2D and F108—2C (digital); the C and D suffixes correspond to the US 110 V and UK 240 V / EUR 220 V columns of the datasheet |
| Models | Elcometer 108/1 analogue dial gauge; Elcometer 108/2 digital gauge |
| Scale range | 0 to 25 MPa (0 to 3600 psi), both gauges |
| Operating range | 2 to 18 MPa (290 to 2600 psi), both gauges |
| Scale resolution | Analogue 1 MPa (100 psi); digital 0.1 MPa (1 psi) |
| Accuracy | Analogue: +/-1 MPa on the metric scale, 150 psi on the imperial scale; digital: +/-3 % or 0.4 MPa (60 psi), whichever is greater |
| Standards listed | ASTM D 4541, ISO 16276-1, NF T30-606 |

| Packing list | Elcometer 108, ABS carry case, 5 flat dollies, 5 nylon plugs, cyanoacrylate adhesive, dolly cleaning tool, 2 x LR6 (AA) batteries (digital gauge only) and operating instructions |
| Calibration certificate | Available |
Accessories and curved-surface testing
The datasheet lists cyanoacrylate adhesive, standard flat dollies and dolly cleaning heating tongs in EUR 220 V / UK 240 V or US 110 V versions. Concave and convex dollies are available on request, so quote the pipe outside diameter or tank radius with your enquiry. Because the dollies are bonded with cyanoacrylate, the usual rules of adhesion testing apply: prepare the surface, let the adhesive cure and inspect the failure mode on the dolly face after the test.
What to confirm before ordering
Confirm the gauge type (analogue or digital), the mains voltage for the heating tongs, whether curved dollies are required and the specification being followed (ASTM D 4541 or ISO 16276-1). For flat surfaces with a mechanical scale, the is an alternative. Related inspection instruments are listed under Portable Test and Measurement.

About brand
Coating inspectors carry Elcometer gauges on painting and blasting jobs to record that a protective coating has been applied to specification. The company was founded in 1947 in Manchester, United Kingdom, and works in coating inspection and thickness gauges. Seven Star LLC lists the Elcometer 456 separate coating thickness gauge and supplies Elcometer instruments and probes to inspection teams in Oman on inquiry.
Elcometer 456 coating thickness gauges
The Elcometer 456 measures dry film thickness. The separate version in our listing takes plug-in probes on a cable, so one gauge body can work with different probes. Probe choice follows the substrate: ferrous probes for coatings on steel, non-ferrous probes for coatings on metals such as aluminum, and dual probes for both. Probe scale and shape are chosen to suit the coating thickness and the access to the surface.
Ordering Elcometer gauges and probes: what we need
Send the gauge model letter and part number from the label, the substrate, the expected coating thickness range, the probe type and scale, and any accessories such as reference foils. If a test certificate from the manufacturer is required, say so in the request. Fabrication yards across the GCC usually name the inspection standard as well.
