Brand: Demag
Demag DC-Pro Electric Chain Hoist, up to 5,000 kg
Description
Overview
The Demag DC-Pro is the professional two-speed version of the Demag DC electric chain hoist range, built for load capacities up to 5,000 kg in workshops, assembly lines and production halls. Demag Cranes & Components describes the DC range as the industry benchmark, and the DC-Pro brings together the features that make it so: 24 V contactor control, upper and lower operating limit switches, an elapsed operating time counter with diagnostics interface, a height-adjustable control pendant and Plug & Lift electrical connections. Its gearbox, slipping clutch and brake are designed to be maintenance-free for up to 10 years, which keeps lifecycle costs low.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Demag DC-Pro to manufacturers, utilities and oil and gas service bases in Oman and across the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Because a chain hoist must be matched to load, hook path, lifting speed and duty, our engineers help customers use the Demag selection data to pick the right size, reeving and trolley before an order is placed.
Operating Principle
As general engineering background, an electric chain hoist uses a motor and multi-stage gearbox to drive a chain sprocket, lifting or lowering the load hook through a calibrated load chain that collects in a chain box. The Demag DC-Pro uses two lifting speeds with a typical 4:1 ratio between main and creep speed, for example 8/2, 16/4 or 24/6 m/min, so operators can travel quickly and then position the load slowly and precisely. According to Demag, speeds up to 24 m/min are available as standard in the F4 two-speed versions.
Safety on the Demag DC-Pro is built around a slipping clutch with automatic cut-out by means of speed monitoring, so the hoist does not slip continuously under overload. In the drive arrangement, the brake is placed before the slipping clutch, which means the load is held by the brake even if the clutch slips, and the hoist brakes automatically if the control system fails. Regenerative braking reduces brake wear so that the brake does not need adjustment, and Demag states that safety-related functions satisfy at least Performance Level c and Category 2 to EN ISO 13849-1.
Engineering Design of the Demag DC-Pro
The Demag DC-Pro housing is made of aluminium parts with a scratch-resistant powder coating, and the hoist and trolley are rated IP 55 with insulation class F. Demag specifies a duty factor of 60% (40/20) with 360 starts per hour, and reliable operation from –20 to +45 °C without any reduction in duty factor, with higher ambient temperatures possible on request. FEM classifications run from 1Am to 4m, corresponding to 800 to 6,300 operating hours. Up to 1,000 kg the hoist uses 1/1 reeving only, which Demag notes reduces chain wear and improves ergonomics.
The selection tables in the Demag DC technical data manual list DC-Pro sizes from DC-Pro 1 to DC-Pro 25, with chain sizes from 4.2 × 12.2 mm up to 10.5 × 28.2 mm and standard hook paths of 4, 5 and 8 m depending on size. On the Demag DC-Pro, a pivoting service cover gives rapid access to the plug-in connections, control pendant height adjustment and chain lubrication, and the entire chain drive can be replaced without dismantling motor or gearbox parts. The DC-Pro can be suspended directly, combined with U11 to U34 push-travel trolleys or E11 to E34 electric travel drives, or used in KBK light crane systems.
Key Features
Demag lists the following standard features for the Demag DC-Pro chain hoist.
- Load capacities up to 5,000 kg are covered in sizes DC-Pro 1 to DC-Pro 25.
- Two lifting speeds with a 4:1 ratio, up to 24 m/min, combine fast handling and precise positioning.
- 24 V contactor control with internal tri-state signal transfer improves operator safety.
- Upper and lower operating limit switches are fitted as standard.
- An elapsed operating time counter and operating data interface support planned maintenance.
- The slipping clutch with speed monitoring and the brake positioned ahead of it ensure the load is held securely.
- Gearbox, slipping clutch and brake are maintenance-free for up to 10 years.
- IP 55 enclosure, insulation class F and operation from –20 to +45 °C suit demanding industrial environments.
Industrial Applications
The Demag DC-Pro is used wherever loads up to a few tonnes must be lifted repeatedly and positioned accurately: machine shops, assembly lines, maintenance workshops, warehouses and pump and valve service centres. In Oman, typical installations include workshop bays at oilfield service companies in Nizwa and Ibri, maintenance stores at power and desalination plants, fabrication shops in the Sohar and Rusayl industrial estates and production lines in food and building materials plants. The ability to run on a single girder, a jib crane or a KBK track makes the hoist easy to integrate into existing buildings.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Demag DC-Pro alongside other material handling and drive equipment. Customers comparing models can review the entry-level Demag DC-Com electric chain hoist already listed on our site, while crane builders upgrading larger travel or hoist drives often pair Demag equipment with inverters such as the ABB ACS880-01 industrial drive or the Schneider Electric Altivar Process 630. Our team in Muscat can coordinate hoist, trolley and control pendant selection for each lifting point.

About brand
Demag, with roots going back to 1819 and its base in Wetter, Germany, builds cranes, hoists and the KBK light crane system found over workstations and assembly lines. Seven Star LLC lists Demag electric chain hoists and wire rope hoists, among them the DC-Com electric chain hoist, which covers loads from 80 kg to 2,000 kg, and supplies Demag hoists and parts to workshops and plants in Oman and the GCC.
The Demag DC-Com chain hoist
The DC-Com has two hoist speeds as standard and a 24 V contactor control, so the pendant in the operator's hand is at low voltage. The hoist and trolley enclosures are IP 55. A slipping clutch protects against overload, and an elapsed operating time counter with a diagnosis interface supports inspection planning. It is rated for operation from -20 °C to +45 °C and runs on Demag trolleys on beam flanges or in KBK rail.
Where Demag hoists are used
Maintenance bays, machine shops, assembly cells and stores with daily lifting at one workplace.
Ordering Demag hoists: what we need
State the load capacity, hook path, supply voltage and frequency, and the suspension: hook, push trolley or electric trolley, with the beam flange width.

Frequently Asked Questions
The DC-Pro range covers load capacities up to 5,000 kg in sizes DC-Pro 1 to DC-Pro 25. Up to 1,000 kg the hoist uses 1/1 reeving, and 2/1 reeving is used for higher capacities.
It has two lifting speeds with a 4:1 ratio, for example 8/2, 16/4 or 24/6 m/min at 50 Hz depending on size and load. The variable-speed DCS-Pro version is available when stepless control is needed.
Demag states that the gearbox, slipping clutch and brake are maintenance-free for up to 10 years, with 5 years for the brake on DC 10 to 25 sizes. Regenerative braking also means the brake does not need adjustment.
A slipping clutch with speed-monitored automatic cut-out prevents continuous slipping, and the brake is arranged ahead of the clutch so the load is always held by the brake. The hoist also brakes automatically if the control system fails.
