Brand: Camlok
Camlok BTG Concrete Pipe Lifting Clamp Set, 1500-3000 kg
Description
Lifting concrete pipe vertically with a three-clamp set and chain sling
The Camlok BTG is concrete pipe lifting gear for the vertical transport of concrete pipe sections and manhole pipes. It is sold as a set of three clamps that comes complete with a 3-legged chain sling, and the working load limits in the datasheet apply to the full set of three. Camlok gives a pipe diameter of up to 2000 mm and states the gear is for concrete pipes according to DIN 4034.
The attraction on site is simple handling: the clamps go onto the pipe wall and come off again with a lever, and the product page notes that the gear lets the trench for a manhole pipe be kept small and helps place pipes accurately on top of one another. Two sizes are listed, BTG1500/3 and BTG3000/3.

Sets, wall thickness and chain size
The jaw capacity is the wall thickness the clamp can bite: 40 to 120 mm on the BTG1500/3 and 50 to 180 mm on the BTG3000/3, so check the pipe wall thickness at the lifting point first. The two sets differ in everything: mouth depth 165 against 245 mm, pressure line 100 against 175 mm, chain 6 against 10 mm and set weight 34 against 60 kg. The datasheet weight is per three-legged lifting gear, not per clamp.
The 3 in the code is the three clamps and the 3-leg sling; it is not a size. Sets are priced and supplied as a unit, so specify the pipe diameter, wall thickness and the weight of the heaviest pipe when asking for a quotation. The manual says never to pick up loads below the minimum marked on the clamp, so a set rated 3000 kg should not be used for light pipes.
Fitting the three clamps and lifting
Check the pipe surface for grease, standing water, oil, scale or coatings and confirm the sling is slack. To close a clamp, press the lever down; set the three clamps on the pipe wall and make sure all three are properly seated before the weight comes on. Look for obstacles in the path and for twists in the chain sling.
Lift smoothly with the sling vertical, never with an endless or four-leg sling, and keep everyone out of the area under and around the pipe while carrying it close to the ground. To release, lower until the attachment is load-free and the suspension eye moves freely, then move the lever to Open and remove the gear. Manual checks cover smooth operation, weld cracks, shell plate distortion, teeth cleaning, lubrication, fasteners, jaw bolt and locator pin, and jaw wear, in daily, weekly and monthly columns.
Pipeline, drainage and precast jobs
BTG sets are used where concrete manhole and drainage pipe are laid in trenches, and in precast yards and at stockpiles where pipes are loaded out vertically. Water and sewerage network works in the GCC use large concrete pipe, so a three-clamp set that makes positioning accurate saves excavation width. Confirm that the pipe is to DIN 4034 or the dimensions are within the wall thickness range before ordering, since pipes to other standards may differ.
Selection and installation notes
Lifting clamps and grabs must be selected from the working load limit, the thickness and size of the load and the lifting angle, and used only by trained people under the site lifting procedure. Check the working load limit and the range on the marking, inspect the clamp before each use, never exceed the rated load or the stated angle, keep people away from the load and follow the periodic examination rules of the country where it is used. Damaged or worn clamps are taken out of service.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
Related items
The BTG set already includes its three-leg chain sling. Other items on the Camlok site for ground works include the CP pile pitching clamp. Rated slings, a crane hook with a safety latch and a spreader are lifting-plan items which are not part of the set. The catalogue lists the BTG under ground works, product group I4.
Frequently asked questions

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Camlok clamps with the official datasheets and manuals for fabrication shops, steel stockholders and construction sites in Oman and the GCC.
Camlok product series
Vertical plate clamps include the CY hinged clamp for 1000 to 3000 kg and the heavy-duty CX hinged clamp for 150 to 10,000 kg, which lift and turn plate. The LJ clamp has leather or rubber pads for non-marking lifts. Horizontal clamps include the CH clamps used in pairs for 1000 to 20,000 kg and the THK clamp for thin sheet.
Other lifting gear includes the CG girder turning clamp, the TTR girder stacking clamp, the TRU round stock grab for pipe and bar, the SC92 beam clamp that provides a suspension point on a beam flange and the BTG clamp set for concrete pipe. Many Camlok clamps are designed with a 4:1 safety factor.
Where Camlok clamps are used
Plate handling in fabrication shops, shipyards and steel stores, girder erection and stacking, pipe and bar handling and laying concrete pipe on civil works.
Ordering Camlok clamps: what we need
Send the clamp type and working load limit, the jaw opening or plate thickness range, the material and surface (including hardness for plate), and the lifting direction. Each family is published with an operating manual listing working load limits, jaw capacities and inspection rules.
