Brand:

Harrington NER/ER Three-Phase Electric Chain Hoist, 1/8 to 5 Ton

Description

Full-featured three-phase chain hoist for everyday industrial lifting

The Harrington NER/ER is the main three-phase electric chain hoist range from Harrington Hoists, covering 1/8 ton to 5 ton on hook or lug suspension. NER is the standard model and ER adds a second brake, a Weston-style mechanical load brake, to the NER feature set. Both use a friction clutch for overload slip, standard upper and lower limit switches and a 110 V pendant control circuit.

It is the type of hoist found over assembly stations, pump bays, machine shops and monorail runs, and it is also built into jib cranes and light overhead cranes through the NERM/ERM (motorized trolley) and NERP/ERP (push or geared trolley) variants listed in the same catalogue. This page covers the single speed hoist with hook or lug suspension.

Enhanced features worth knowing about

  • Standard count-hour meter that records lowering starts and hoist-on time, useful for preventive maintenance planning.
  • ‘The Guardian’ smart brake technology: a current-driven electromagnetic brake that does not release unless the motor is energized, with a 10 year hoist brake warranty stated in the catalogue.
  • Easy-access suspension: external pins allow a quick change from hook to lug on most models.
  • High air flow motor fin, fan blade and cover design for cooler motor and brake.
  • Dual speed variant with an under-the-cover VFD, 6:1 speed ratio and adjustability up to 12:1, and a red emergency stop on its 2-button pendant.
  • RoHS compliant construction as stated by the maker.

Choosing between NER and ER, and between speeds

Reading the table, the final letter in the code (L, S, H or C) tracks speed and chain arrangement (derived from the listed values): for example NER010L lifts 1 ton at 14 ft/min and NER010S lifts the same ton at 28 ft/min with a 2.4 Hp motor. C models are double-fall units with slow, high-force lifting (NER020C, 2 ton at 7 ft/min). Select ER where a second, mechanical load brake is wanted for duty that justifies it; select NER for general use. For frequent positioning choose a dual speed model rather than a single speed hoist.

Installation and use

Verify supply voltage and phase against the nameplate; the standard hoist is shipped for 208-230 or 460 V. Provide upstream overload protection and a lockable disconnect. Do not use the limit switches as running stops. Standard pendant drop and power cord lengths are noted above; longer pendant and cord are available on request.

Applications

The NER/ER range suits heavy workshop and plant duty in petrochemical turnaround stores, power plant maintenance, water treatment pump halls, automotive and general manufacturing. For dust-classified areas Harrington offers the RNER2 variant; the catalogue shows no gas-atmosphere marking for the NER/ER, so confirm with the maker before use in such areas. Selection and installation notes

A hoist is selected from the rated capacity, the lift height, the duty cycle and the supply or air available, and it must be used only within its rated load under the site lifting procedure by trained people. Check the support structure and the trolley or hook, inspect the hoist, chain and hooks before use, test the brake and the limits at commissioning, never lift people or pull the load at an angle and have periodic examinations carried out by a competent person as the local rules require. Damaged equipment is taken out of service.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Harrington electric, manual and air hoists, each with its owner manual attached, for workshops and plants in Oman and the GCC.

Harrington product series

Electric chain hoists include the EM mini hoist for 250 to 1000 lb, the ED-DS dual speed single-phase hoist, the NER and ER three-phase hoists from 1/8 to 5 ton and the RNER2 for Class II Division 2 hazardous dust locations.

Manual hoists include the CB hand chain hoist from 1/2 to 20 ton, the CX mini hand chain hoist, the LB lever chain hoist from 3/4 to 9 ton and the LX mini lever hoist. Air hoists include the TCE spark resistant air chain hoist and the TCL lubricant-free air hoist.

Where Harrington hoists are used

Maintenance lifting in plants and workshops, monorails and jib cranes, assembly lines, food and clean areas that require lubricant-free hoists and hazardous areas where spark resistant air hoists are specified.
