Bently Nevada 129478-01 3500/15 High DC Power Input Module
Description
Bently Nevada 129478-01 legacy high voltage DC power input module for the 3500/15
The Bently Nevada 129478-01 is the legacy High Voltage DC Power Input Module (PIM) for the 3500/15 power supply system. It handles the incoming 88 to 140 Vdc feed, such as a 110 Vdc station battery bus, and passes it to the legacy High Voltage DC power supply module 129486-01 that sits in front of it in the rack. In the manufacturer’s current datasheet it appears in the spares table as “Legacy High Voltage DC Power Input Module”.
DC-fed 3500 racks are common where machinery protection must stay alive without relying on an inverter. This page explains what 129478-01 is, how it differs from the newer High Voltage DC PIM, and what to check before replacing it. Seven Star LLC supplies 129478-01 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
129478-01 technical specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer / part number | Bently Nevada (Baker Hughes) / 129478-01 |

Legacy or new high voltage DC: do not mix them
The current 3500/15 datasheet is explicit that the High Voltage and Low Voltage DC power supplies and PIMs of the new generation are not compatible with the legacy High Voltage and Low Voltage DC power supplies and PIMs. The new High Voltage DC pair is the supply 114M5329-01 with PIM 115M7750-01, and ordering code 06 (top or bottom slot). The legacy pair is the supply 129486-01 with PIM 129478-01, ordering code 03. A 129478-01 module belongs only on a rack that already carries the legacy 129486-01 supply, and a new-generation PIM should not be fitted behind it.
| Item | Legacy high voltage DC | New high voltage DC |
|---|---|---|
| 3500/15 ordering code | 03 | 06 |
| Supply module | 129486-01 | 114M5329-01 |
| Power input module | 129478-01 | 115M7750-01 |
| Input range | 88 to 140 Vdc | 88 to 140 Vdc (same range, different hardware) |
| Replacement fuse | 01720025 | 129M0198 |
How the PIM fits into rack power
A 3500 rack can have one or two power supplies, in any mix of AC and DC. Either supply can power the full rack. When two are installed, the lower one is the primary and the upper one acts as the backup, taking over automatically if the primary fails. Each supply has its own PIM, so 129478-01 is the field-side connection for one DC supply, and removing or inserting a module does not disrupt the rack provided a second supply is present.

- 133292-01 and 133300-01: Legacy Low Voltage DC supply and PIM (20 to 30 Vdc).

- 118M0915-02: replacement connector for DC power input modules, as listed in the current datasheet spares.

Selection checklist for 129478-01
- Check the label on the installed PIM. It must read 129478-01 or the corresponding legacy High Voltage DC part.
- Verify the DC bus voltage and polarity at the rack against 88 to 140 Vdc, including battery boost-charge peaks.
- Confirm the supply module in front is 129486-01 and not the new generation 114M5329-01.
- Plan to carry spare fuses 01720025, since over-voltage opens the PIM fuse.
- Decide if a full legacy-to-new-generation upgrade, which changes both the supply and the PIM together, would be a better use of the outage.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance
Isolate the DC bus at the source, confirm zero volts with a meter and take note of polarity markings before disconnecting. Remove the rear cover 128085-01, change the PIM and refit the cover with its screws. Re-energize and check that the power supply OK LED comes on and that the rack OK relay clears.
On redundant racks the other supply keeps the machinery protection online, but still advise operations before work starts. Record the measured DC voltage, the date and the fuse type in the maintenance log, and review battery charger float and boost settings so that the peak bus voltage stays within the 140 Vdc limit. If the fuse opens again after replacement, trace the cause upstream before repeating the attempt.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
110 Vdc buses supplied from station batteries are standard in power stations, gas compression stations, oil and gas facilities and desalination plants in Oman and the GCC. They give the machinery protection system power that does not depend on AC distribution during a blackout. The 129478-01 module is therefore found in older 3500 racks protecting gas turbines, steam turbines and large compressors, where battery-backed protection is a design requirement.

A proximity probe measures the gap to the shaft, so it sees shaft movement inside a fluid-film bearing directly. A velocity or acceleration sensor sits on the casing and suits rolling-element bearing machines. Critical turbomachinery usually carries two X-Y probes per bearing, two axial probes for thrust position and a Keyphasor probe for speed and phase.
Where Bently Nevada systems are used
In Oman and the GCC, Bently Nevada racks and probes protect gas turbines, compressors and steam turbines in gas processing, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power and desalination plants. Many installations are 3500 racks that have run for years, so most requests are for like-for-like module, probe, extension cable and proximitor replacements, plus upgrades to newer monitors.
Ordering and replacement: what we need
For probes and proximitors, send the full part number with all option digits (for example 330101-00-27-10-02-05). The digits set the probe length, cable length, connector and approvals, and the probe, cable and proximitor must match in total system length. For 3500 modules, send the module and I/O part numbers from the rack and say whether the I/O is internal or external termination, or barrier type. If a module is obsolete, we quote the replacement that Bently Nevada names and point out any configuration or firmware change.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is the legacy High Voltage DC Power Input Module (PIM) for the 3500/15 power supply. It accepts 88 to 140 Vdc and works with the legacy High Voltage DC supply module 129486-01.
No. The manufacturer states that the new High and Low Voltage DC supplies and PIMs are not compatible with the legacy versions. The new pair is 114M5329-01 with 115M7750-01.
An over-voltage causes the fuse on the PIM to open. Under-voltage does not harm the supply or the PIM. The replacement fuse for the legacy High Voltage DC PIM is 01720025.
The datasheet gives a maximum of 2.5 A for the high voltage DC options with a full rack. The low voltage DC option draws up to 11.0 A.
Yes. The rack can contain one or two power supplies in any combination of AC and DC, and either one can power a full rack. The lower slot is primary and the upper slot is backup.
