Bently Nevada 149992-01 3500/33 16-Channel Relay Output Module
Description
Bently Nevada 149992-01 16-channel relay output module for the 3500/33
The Bently Nevada 149992-01 is the spare 16-channel relay output module for the 3500/33 relay system. In the manufacturer’s spares list it is the standard-contact version, listed next to 149992-02 (failsafe), 149992-03 (low current) and 149992-04 (low current failsafe). It is the rear I/O module that holds the sixteen relay contacts, while the logic runs in the separate 3500/33 control module, spare number 149986-01.
The ordering code for the full assembly is 3500/33-AA-BB, where A selects the output module type. Position A code 01 is the plain 16-channel relay output module, which is the version 149992-01 represents. Seven Star LLC supplies 149992-01 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

Contact ratings depend on the version and approval of the full assembly. For SIL or hazardous-area use the datasheet restricts the switched voltage, so read the ordering considerations in the manufacturer datasheet before wiring higher voltages.
How the 16-channel relay module drives alarms
Each relay carries Alarm Drive Logic that you program in the 3500 Rack Configuration Software. The logic combines alarm inputs (alert and danger statuses), Not-OK conditions and individual measured values from any monitor channel in the rack, using AND and OR gates. Any relay can therefore be a simple alarm, a voted trip such as two out of three, or a status contact for the control system.
The OK, TX/RX and per-channel alarm LEDs on the control module show whether the module is healthy, communicating over the rack backplane and which relay is in alarm. The rear module 149992-01 holds the physical contacts and the field terminals, so a failed contact or damaged terminal is solved by replacing the output module, not the control module.
Where 149992-01 fits in a 3500 rack
The 3500/33 can be placed in any slot to the right of the Transient Data Interface (TDI), and several modules may be fitted. The datasheet states that it requires 3500 Rack Configuration version 3.3 or later, Data Acquisition 2.40 or later and Data Display Software 1.40 or later. Related items are the 149986-01 control module, and the 3500/22M TDI that sits at the left of the rack.

- Connector header 00580453 (16-position, green internal termination) and the push-in-spring alternative 166M2381.

Selection checklist for 149992-01
- Choose standard contacts ({P}) when switching loads of 100 mA at 5 Vdc and above, as in most shutdown and annunciator circuits.
- Choose the low current types (149992-03 or -04) with gold-plated contacts for loads between 1 mA at 1 Vdc and 100 mA at 48 Vdc, typical of PLC inputs.
- Choose a failsafe type (149992-02 or -04) when the safety case requires it; these have the lower voltage limit.
- If the load is near the transition between low and high current, the datasheet recommends the gold-plated low current option.
- Match the approval option of the existing assembly (none, Division 2 or Zone 2).
Installation, commissioning and maintenance
Disconnect field power before servicing, because relay terminals can carry hazardous voltage and the datasheet warns of shock hazard at higher voltages. Fit the module only in a de-energized circuit or follow the site hot-swap procedure for the 3500 rack. Confirm the four ND/NE selector switch groups match the original settings, since they decide whether a relay is normally energized or de-energized.
After installation, simulate an alarm from the Rack Configuration Software or the monitor test function and check each relay’s continuity with a meter. Record the contact operation count where the site tracks it, remembering the rated life of 10,000 cycles. Keep at least one spare output module for each contact type in the plant spares store.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
Relay modules turn a monitoring result into an action: a turbine trip, a compressor shutdown, a high-vibration alarm in the control room. In Oman and the GCC they are found on gas turbine generators, mechanical-drive compressors, boiler feed pumps and seawater pumps in oil and gas, power, desalination and petrochemical plants. Relay contacts see heat, dust and humid coastal air inside marshalling cabinets, so periodic checks are worth planning at each turnaround.
Relay output module versions compared

A proximity probe measures the gap to the shaft, so it sees shaft movement inside a fluid-film bearing directly. A velocity or acceleration sensor sits on the casing and suits rolling-element bearing machines. Critical turbomachinery usually carries two X-Y probes per bearing, two axial probes for thrust position and a Keyphasor probe for speed and phase.
Where Bently Nevada systems are used
In Oman and the GCC, Bently Nevada racks and probes protect gas turbines, compressors and steam turbines in gas processing, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power and desalination plants. Many installations are 3500 racks that have run for years, so most requests are for like-for-like module, probe, extension cable and proximitor replacements, plus upgrades to newer monitors.
Ordering and replacement: what we need
For probes and proximitors, send the full part number with all option digits (for example 330101-00-27-10-02-05). The digits set the probe length, cable length, connector and approvals, and the probe, cable and proximitor must match in total system length. For 3500 modules, send the module and I/O part numbers from the rack and say whether the I/O is internal or external termination, or barrier type. If a module is obsolete, we quote the replacement that Bently Nevada names and point out any configuration or firmware change.
