JUMO dTRANS T06 Ex Four-Wire Transmitter with SIL and Ex Approval

Description

Multifunction four-wire transmitter with intrinsically safe input and SIL data

The JUMO dTRANS T06 Ex (type 707075) is a DIN-rail multifunction transmitter that measures RTD probes, thermocouples, resistance signals, voltage and current, and outputs 0(4) to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V galvanically isolated from the intrinsically safe sensor circuit. It is designed to DIN EN 61508 SIL2, with systematic capability SC 3 for hardware and software, and offers PL c or d per ISO 13849 depending on architecture.

A 64 x 96 pixel graphic display with backlight shows the measured value, a 2-color LED shows the operating status, and four keys or a micro-USB port with the setup program handle configuration. The data sheet states that the device itself must be installed outside the Ex area, while the [Ex ia] inputs connect directly to approved probes, so no extra barrier is needed.

The sensor type, range, linearization, output and limit values are all configurable, and customer-specific linearization is supported.

Order code, probes and safety use

The order code is 707075/ version (8 standard, 9 customer-specific) – supply (29 for DC 24 V) – extra codes (000 none, 053 RS485 Modbus RTU), for example 707075/8-29-053. Delivery includes the device and operating manual; accessories are the setup program, a 3 m USB cable and a screw-on end clamp.

JUMO probes to data sheet 902820 are type-tested for use in Ex areas with this transmitter, and the safety manual describes the values. The probes also have to be qualified for the Ex area. With SIL data, SIL2 or PL c is reached with a single device (HFT 0) and SIL3 or PL d with two devices (HFT 1), depending on the architecture.

If an RS485 interface is ordered, the transmitter operates as a Modbus RTU slave, which lets a PLC read the measured value digitally alongside the analog output. The setup program and the front keys access the same parameters, and noise suppression, filter time, offset and fine adjustment can be set for every input variant.

Installation notes and applications

Use it where a temperature signal from a hazardous area must enter a SIL-rated loop, such as reactor jackets, storage tanks, gas processing skids and dryers. Besides the display, it offers a min/max drag pointer, operating hours counter, output simulation and a connection diagram on the screen, which helps loop checks.

The data sheet warns that terminal temperatures may exceed 60 °C, so connected cables must be heat-resistant to at least 80 °C. Emission class A means it is for industrial use only. Always check the approvals against the project and the certificate versions before ordering.

Fault handling is configurable: the outputs take defined states if a measuring fault occurs, and under NAMUR NE 43 the 4 to 20 mA signal reports “NAMUR Low” at 3.6 mA or below and “NAMUR High” at 21 mA or above. For double thermocouples the unit detects probe short circuit as well, which single thermocouples do not permit.

Always follow the safety manual and the certificates for the Ex area. The device is installed outside the hazardous area, while the sensor and its connection lead are in the Ex zone; cable capacitance and inductance must stay within the output values of Co 39.32 uF and Lo 0.2 H.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
