The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 (type 706530) is a highly scalable paperless recorder with an icon-based touch interface on a 5.7 inch colour TFT screen. It can be ordered without any measurement input, recording up to 120 process values over Ethernet or Modbus, or equipped with up to 18 universal analog inputs, 3 analog outputs, 18 digital inputs, 24 switchable digital inputs or outputs and 7 relay outputs. Ethernet, two USB ports and an RS232/RS485 interface are standard. Optional extra codes add FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliant recording with up to 50 users, manipulation detection with a digital certificate, math and logic channels, structured text programming, PROFINET IO device and AMS2750/CQI-9 support. Users can build up to 10 process screens of 100 objects each and record up to 5 batch reports.

Order code and extra codes

The code is 706530 / extension – language / options 1 to 4 – supply / extra codes. Extension 0 has no software and 1 includes the setup program with USB cable, PCA3000 and PCC; with extra code 888 it also includes PCS and PCAT. Language 8 is German and English by default. Each of options 1 to 3 is 0 (unused), 1, 2 or 3, and option 4 is 0, 4 (12 digital I/O) or 5 (6 relays). Supply is 23 or 25. Extra codes are 260, 221, 887, 888, 163 (PROFINET), 879 (AMS2750/CQI-9), 949 (TUS/SAT field test device) and 970 (compact carrying case). The order example is 706530/1 8-1 2 3 4-23/260,887,163,970. Later expansion of the options is only possible at the manufacturer.

Recording, security and applications

Measured values are stored in a working memory and copied to flash in 20 kByte blocks, in an encrypted format. A lithium battery buffers memory and clock for more than seven years. Operating modes are standard, time and event operation, in rising priority, each with its own memory cycle and value type (current, average, minimum or maximum). User management supports 5 users, or 50 with extra code 888. Data is read through a USB drive, Ethernet or the PCC software, and PCA3000 is used for evaluation. The built-in web server shows the same visualisation as the screen, and email can be sent through an SMTP server with time sync through SNTP.

Use the model without inputs as a central trend display for a PLC or building system, or fit universal inputs to log furnace, autoclave, cold-chain and water treatment data. Batch recording suits food, pharma and sterilisation processes where documentation is needed. When thermocouples are used for accurate heat-treatment work, the optional TC terminals with integrated cold junction (30053080) improve accuracy, and extra code 879 requires the channels to be specified for the calibration certificate. JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.
