Kentec Sigma CP-R K01040M2 4-Zone Fire Alarm Repeater Panel

Description

The Kentec Sigma CP-R K01040M2 is a four-zone repeater panel with its own mains power supply, designed to give remote control and indication for a Sigma CP conventional fire alarm panel. The datasheet DS39 states that it provides full control over the main panel, volt-free fire and fault contacts, and a two-wire serial connection. It carries EN54-2 and EN54-4 marks on the datasheet, matching the Sigma CP range it repeats.

Product overview

The repeater is compatible with all Sigma CP control panels that have operating software version 2.0 or above. Repeaters come with 2, 4 or 8 zones, in mains powered K versions or 24 V powered E versions. A mains powered repeater needs only a two core data cable from the main panel, whereas a 24 V DC version needs two additional cores for power from the main panel or another 24 V DC source. The same datasheet covers the Sigma CP ancillary PCB, which adds open collector zonal fault outputs and volt-free fire, coincidence and common fault contacts.

Repeater functions

  • Two-wire serial connection to the main Sigma CP panel.
  • Up to seven repeater panels per system.
  • 230 V AC or 24 V DC powered versions.
  • Full control over the main panel from the repeater.
  • Volt-free fire and fault contact outputs.
  • Each device is given an address from 1 to 7 with a binary coded DIL switch.

Choosing a repeater

Pick the zone count to match the main panel: 2, 4 or 8 zones. Then choose between the K version, which has its own mains supply, and the E version, which is powered at 24 V. K01040M2 is the four-zone repeater with PSU. A mixture of repeaters, ancillary boards or sounder boards, to a maximum of seven of each type, can be connected to one control panel.

Installation notes

The total length of the data cable from the main panel to the last repeater must not exceed 1200 metres. Man-1093 (issue 06, May 2016) describes connecting the repeater to the main panel and to other repeaters, the 24 V input and the relay contacts, and the panel operation, watchdog reset and troubleshooting indications.

Typical applications

Reception areas, security rooms, building entrances or separate wings where staff need to see zone status and silence, reset or test the system without walking to the main panel.

Selection and installation notes

A fire alarm control panel is selected from the number of loops or zones, the devices to be connected, the standby battery duration and the standard the project requires. It must be designed, installed, programmed and commissioned by competent fire system engineers to the code and authority rules for the project, with a cause and effect plan, correct battery sizing, cable of the specified type and a full test of every device and output before handover. Confirm the certification needed for the project with the authority before purchase.

A repeater panel is connected to its parent panel by the data cable the maker specifies, so check the cable type, the length limit and the addressing before installation.
