Kentec Sigma XT+ K21042M3 4-Zone 2-Area Extinguishant Panel

Description

The Kentec Sigma XT+ K21042M3 is a conventional multi-area extinguishant control panel with four detection zones and two extinguishant areas in a 385 x 520 x 110 mm enclosure. Kentec describes the Sigma XT+ range as complying with EN12094-1, EN54-2 and EN54-4, and offers it with two, four or eight detection zones and one to four extinguishant areas. This page is a technical summary of the datasheet DS50 for buyers who need to confirm the model code before requesting a quotation.

Product overview

Each extinguishant area on this panel carries its own inputs and outputs and is programmed through a simple interface. An area has a seconds countdown display, a mode selector with manual release, a pair of extinguishant outputs that may be assigned as main and reserve, and sounder outputs for the first and second alarm stages. Relay contacts per area report first stage, second stage, released and fault states. Stand-alone extinguishant units are also listed in the datasheet, with two monitored inputs to receive initiating signals from remote fire detection control panels or addressable modules.

What the datasheet highlights

  • Certified by the manufacturer to EN12094-1, EN54-2 and EN54-4.
  • Choice of 2, 4 or 8 conventional zones, with 1 to 4 areas.
  • Delay and output duration are both programmable.
  • Remote inputs for hold, manual release, door interlock mode select, released and low pressure switches, plus an abort input, all monitored.
  • RS485 link for Sigma Si indicators and ancillary boards, wired with a simple 4 core cable.
  • Room for up to seven Sigma CP ancillary boards (K580) or sounder boards (K461) on that bus.

Reading the product code

The product code encodes the configuration, so confirm the number of zones and areas before ordering. K21042M3 gives four zones and two areas in the smaller M3 enclosure. If the project needs three or four areas, the datasheet lists the larger M4 enclosure with a 5.25 A supply. Companion Sigma Si status units are specified in datasheet DS41, and the XT+ datasheet points to DS39 and DS48 for the repeater and sounder boards that share the serial bus.

Installation notes

Cabling for detection circuits is specified as FP200 or equivalent, and terminals accept 0.5 mm2 to 2.5 mm2 solid or stranded wire. Detection zone thresholds are printed in the datasheet, including the allowable end of line range of 10K to 2K ohm, a detector alarm threshold of 1K to 390 ohm and a short circuit threshold of 130 to 0 ohm. The 52-page manual Man-1112 covers installation and operation and should be read by the commissioning engineer.

Typical applications

The two-area, four-zone arrangement suits plant rooms, electrical switch rooms, data halls or archives where two separate gaseous extinguishant hazards are protected from one panel with conventional detectors and call points. Final system design, cylinder selection and approvals remain the responsibility of the system designer.

Selection and installation notes

A fire alarm control panel is selected from the number of loops or zones, the devices to be connected, the standby battery duration and the standard the project requires. It must be designed, installed, programmed and commissioned by competent fire system engineers to the code and authority rules for the project, with a cause and effect plan, correct battery sizing, cable of the specified type and a full test of every device and output before handover. Confirm the certification needed for the project with the authority before purchase.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet.
