Kentec Sigma A-CP K1844-11 4-Zone UL864 Conventional Fire Panel

Description

The Kentec Sigma A-CP K1844-11 is a UL864 listed conventional fire control panel with four initiating circuits, supplied in a red 368 x 310 x 110 mm enclosure. It belongs to the Sigma A-CP range of two, four or eight zone panels, which Kentec describes as having an optional built-in communicator. The datasheet DS78 lists a 6.5 A power supply, two 2 A notification appliance circuits and selectable synchronisation protocols, making it a compact panel for North American style systems.

Product overview

Each initiating circuit can be individually configured as Fire, Water Flow or Supervisory. The panel provides four amp notification appliance power with built-in selectable sync protocols, and a built-in RS485 communications bus for four-wire annunciators or ancillary relay boards. Configuration uses just three front panel buttons, and single board construction means the electronics come out after removing two screws. Low standby power allows small batteries and a discreet enclosure, available in red or grey.

Circuits and functions

  • Two, four or eight initiating circuits, each configurable as Fire, Water Flow or Supervisory.
  • Two 2 A notification appliance circuits with selectable sync protocols.
  • 6.5 A power supply and a resettable auxiliary output rated 0.3 A, configurable to power off on a fire condition.
  • Alarm verification selectable by zone.
  • Fire, trouble and supervisory relays.
  • Single person walk test function and advanced configuration options.
  • 72 hours standby with 7 Ah batteries.

Choosing zones and colour

Choose two, four or eight zones and a red or grey enclosure. K1844-11 is the four-zone red panel. The datasheet table prints the first code as KI842-11, which appears to be a typing slip for K1842-11, so confirm the code against your quotation. Annunciators and relay boards are not part of this panel and are ordered separately.

Installation notes

The manual Man-1194 covers installation and operation. It describes the panel as UL864 listed, refers to NFPA 72 installation with Class B Style C or Style B wiring, and names synchronisation protocols from Wheelock, Gentex, Amseco and System Sensor. AC wiring is specified as 14 AWG on a 15 A branch circuit. Check these requirements against the local authority having jurisdiction.

Typical applications

Small commercial and light industrial buildings that specify a UL864 conventional panel, including systems that monitor sprinkler water flow and supervisory devices through individually configured initiating circuits. The compact enclosure and small battery requirement make it practical where wall space or plant room space is limited, and the RS485 bus leaves room to add annunciators later without replacing the panel.

Selection and installation notes

A fire alarm or extinguishant control panel is selected from the number of zones or areas, the devices to be connected, the standby battery duration and the standard the project requires. It must be designed, installed, programmed and commissioned by competent fire system engineers to the code and authority rules for the project, with a cause and effect plan, correct battery sizing, cable of the specified type and a full test of every device and output before handover. Confirm the certification and listing needed for the project with the authority before purchase. Keep the commissioning records and the access codes with the site documents.

Before ordering, compare the ratings on the data sheet with the project specification, check the connection sizes and the supply conditions, and confirm which accessories, spares and documents travel with the unit. On delivery, inspect the packing, compare the nameplate with the order and keep the manual with the site records so that later commissioning and maintenance work can follow the maker instructions. Ask us if any detail is unclear and we will check it with the supplier before the order is placed.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
