Danfoss 131B0062 FC 302 AutomationDrive 7.5 kW Brake IP20

Description

FC 302 7.5 kW with brake chopper, panel and coated boards

The 131B0062 is an FC-302P7K5T5E20H1BGC drive. Compared with the base unit it adds three things that are visible in the type code: B for an integrated brake chopper, G for the graphical local control panel and C for coated boards. The rating is 7.5 kW (10 HP) on 380 to 500 V, IP20 chassis in the A3 frame.

The store gives 16 A continuous and 25.6 A intermittent at high overload, 11.1 kVA and a loss of 225 W. At 268 x 130 x 205 mm (H x W x D) and 6.56 kg, it fits a standard panel.

When the brake chopper matters

A brake chopper lets the drive dump regenerative energy into an external brake resistor. That is needed for loads with high inertia, rapid stops, hoists, centrifuges and downhill conveyors; without it the DC link rises and the drive trips on overvoltage. The resistor itself is a separate item and its value and power must be calculated from the duty cycle, as explained in the Danfoss brake-resistor documents.

The coated board is useful on sites with humidity or sulphur compounds in the air. The graphical panel makes the first setup simpler and can store parameters for copying to another drive.

Mechanical and electrical planning

The A3 housing is wider than the A2 frame of the 4 kW drive, but the height and depth are the same. Use the decoupling plate for the motor and brake cables, keep the brake resistor cable short and shielded, and provide a thermal protection of the resistor that opens the mains contactor.

The guide that we attach covers sizes A to C of the FC 301 and FC 302. For other options such as a PROFIBUS card or the MCO motion option, a different code number is required.

For a replacement job, bring the nameplate of the old unit and the parameter backup. A brake chopper drive is often installed with an external resistor that is already in the panel, and reusing it saves time, provided its ohmic value and power match the new drive. Let us know if the resistor is still needed, and we will include the quotation for a compatible Danfoss brake resistor when you ask for it.

A good enquiry for 131B0062 lists the code, the quantity, the site, the required documents and any approval certificates your inspector will ask for. Sending these together, rather than one by one, shortens the exchange and reduces the chance of a mismatch at delivery.

Ordering notes

Please confirm supply voltage, motor data, brake duty and ambient conditions before ordering. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and can quote 131B0062. More drives are listed under AC drives.

About brand

Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

Danfoss company profile

Founded 1 September 1933, Nordborg, Denmark, by Mads Clausen (1905–1966)
First product Thermostatic expansion valve for refrigeration
Headquarters Nordborg, Denmark
Ownership Private; majority controlled by the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation and the Clausen family
Size About 42,000 employees (2023)
Business segments Danfoss Climate Solutions (refrigeration, air conditioning and heating), Danfoss Drives (VLT and VACON frequency converters, soft starters), Danfoss Power Solutions (mobile and industrial hydraulics)
Brands in the group VLT, VACON, Eaton Hydraulics (bought 2021), Ikusi radio remote controls

Milestones

  • 1932–1933: First expansion valve; the company is founded in Nordborg.
  • 1939: 26 employees. By the 10th anniversary in 1943 the company has 179.
  • 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
  • 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
  • 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
  • 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.

Where Danfoss products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.

Ordering Danfoss products: what we need

Send the Danfoss code number from the label (for example 032U7115 or 131B0149) or the full drive type code (FC-302P3K0T5...). For drives, add the motor power, supply voltage and any fieldbus option. For valves, add the size, connection, medium and coil voltage. For pressure switches and transmitters, add the range, output and pressure connection.

Facts checked against Danfoss's company history pages and published company data, October 2026.
