Danfoss 131B0032 VLT AutomationDrive FC 302, 3 kW, no LCP
Description
A 3 kW FC 302 built for the strictest emission class, without panel or board coating
Danfoss order number 131B0032 is the type FC-302P3K0T5E20H1XXXXXXSXXXXAXBXCXXXXDX, a 3 kW FC 302 in frame A2 that differs from the standard 131B0149 in three ways: it has the stronger H1 RFI filter (class A1/B, category C1), it is delivered without a local control panel, and its circuit boards are not coated. This combination fits installations that sit close to residential or office areas and must meet first-environment emission limits, in clean indoor locations where several drives are supplied with a single LCP for commissioning.

Emission class, commissioning and selection
As general background, category C1 under IEC/EN 61800-3 relates to the first environment (home and office) and corresponds to class B limits, and the operating guide lists IEC/EN 61800-3 for both emission and immunity. As with any RFI filter, the earth leakage current rises, so check residual-current device compatibility. Since no panel is fitted, parameters are set through an LCP ordered separately, the RS-485 port or the USB connection with MCT 10 software. The unit needs 100 mm of free air above and below.
Because the boards are uncoated, do not choose this code for sites with aggressive gases; the standard coated A2 drives are the better match. The Danfoss store page also shows an “Upgrade available” notice for this code, so confirm with us whether the current revision or a successor is being supplied.
On the supply side the Danfoss guide specifies a mains frequency of 47.5 to 63 Hz, a true power factor of at least 0.9 and a displacement power factor above 0.98, with no more than two switch-ons per minute up to 7.5 kW. The drive is rated for overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2 and a short-circuit current of up to 100 kA, which should be compared with your installation.
When 131B0032 is the right 3 kW drive
Three conditions point to this particular code. First, the motor and load fit a 3 kW high-overload rating on a 380-500 V three-phase supply, with a continuous current need within 7.2 A at 380-440 V or 6.3 A at 441-500 V. Second, the installation must meet the C1 emission category, for example in a building services plant room next to offices, a hospital, a school or apartments. Third, the drive will sit in a clean, conditioned electrical room, because the circuit boards are uncoated. If any of these does not hold, another FC 302 code is likely to be a better match, such as the coated standard version, or a variant with a brake chopper if the load must be stopped quickly.
Check the motor nameplate current rather than only the kilowatt figure, and allow for the intermittent current of 11.5 A or 10.1 A if the application needs high starting torque, such as a loaded conveyor or a positive displacement pump. Since this code has no brake chopper, frequent fast stops of high-inertia loads are not a good fit.
Planning for the missing panel
On a project with several drives, one LCP can be carried from drive to drive during commissioning, then removed. Make sure at least one compatible LCP or a laptop with MCT 10 is available on site, and keep a saved copy of every parameter set so replacement drives can be loaded quickly without guessing the original settings.
Installation and commissioning
- Mount the A2 chassis vertically inside an enclosure, keeping the 100 mm clearance above and below for cooling air.
- Use screened motor cable with the screen bonded at both ends using proper clamps; the C1 rating relies on a correct EMC installation as described in the operating guide.
- Check residual-current protection on the supply, because the H1 filter raises earth leakage current.
- Respect the limit of two switch-ons per minute and use the drive’s own start and stop commands for frequent cycling.
- Enter the motor data, run the motor adaptation routine if the application allows, then set ramps, references and I/O before running the load.
Maintenance and fault finding
Keep the heatsink and fan paths clean, since 116 W of losses must leave the enclosure. Trips that appear only during deceleration point to a ramp that is too short for a drive without a brake chopper. If nearby equipment reports interference despite the C1 filter, check the motor cable screen terminations and the earth connections before suspecting the drive.
Using this drive in Oman and the GCC
The uncoated boards make the electrical room conditions especially important here. Install the drive in an air-conditioned, sealed room, use filtered cooling air on dusty sites, and avoid locations near sewage treatment, battery rooms or coastal process areas where corrosive gases or salt-laden air are present; in those places a coated FC 302 is the safer choice. Keep enclosure doors closed so fine desert dust does not settle on the boards.

About brand
From its headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1933, Danfoss makes the drives, valves and sensors found in pump rooms, chiller plants and cold stores. Its blue VLT frequency converters are probably the most familiar of them.
Seven Star LLC lists Danfoss VLT drives, pressure transmitters, refrigeration valves and HVAC control valves, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact code number on the label.
Danfoss product families on this page
Among the VLT drives listed, three are each aimed at a different duty: the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 for fans and building services, the VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 for water and wastewater pumping, and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 for general industrial machinery. The LCP 12 control panel with potentiometer (code number 132B0101) is also listed; Danfoss specifies it for the VLT Micro Drive FC 51. In pressure measurement there are the MBS 3000 general purpose transmitter and the MBS 5100. Valves include the AB-QM pressure independent control valve in DN 15 to DN 250, the EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve and the ICV pilot-operated valve for industrial refrigeration.
Where Danfoss equipment is used
District cooling and chilled water plants, air handling units, booster and irrigation pump stations, desalination and wastewater works, ammonia and CO2 refrigeration plants, food storage and marine engine rooms are the usual places. Demand in the GCC is driven largely by cooling and water.
Ordering Danfoss parts: what we need
Every Danfoss product has a code number, and drives also carry a long type code string on the label. Send both. For a drive we need the motor power and current, the mains voltage, enclosure rating, any fieldbus or option card and the filter class. For an MBS transmitter give the pressure span, output signal, pressure connection and electrical connection. For valves give the size, connection type, coil voltage where relevant and the refrigerant or medium.
