The 131B8972 is an FC-202P7K5T4E55H1XG: 7.5 kW (10 HP), 380 to 480 V, IP55 / Type 12 and the A5 frame. Because the housing is IP55 the drive can hang on the wall of a pump house or a pumping station next to the motor, which saves a cabinet and shortens the motor cable.

Pumping duty and the overload rating

Centrifugal pumps are normally run at the lighter normal-overload rating, with 110 % current for a minute, while positive-displacement pumps and screw pumps need the high-overload rating with 150 %. Because this drive publishes both ratings, the same code can serve a booster pump or a progressive-cavity pump, but the motor current has to be checked against the figures in the table.

The AQUA guide includes a cascade controller for several pumps, a sleep mode to stop the pump when demand is low, short-cycle protection and a broken-belt detection. Those functions are set through parameters, not extra hardware.

Mounting an IP55 drive in a hot climate

IP55 does not mean unlimited ambient temperature. The guide gives derating curves, and an IP55 drive mounted in direct sun on a Gulf site can overheat. Shade the drive and keep the free space around the heat sink. The type code has the coat position X, so the boards are not conformal coated; for a coastal or chemically aggressive site ask for a coated variant.

The drive is 420 x 242 x 200 mm (H x W x D) in the A5 frame, the same footprint as the 4 kW FC 102 in the HVAC line, which helps if you standardise a panel layout.

Commissioning a pump drive starts with the motor nameplate data, followed by a short automatic motor adaptation, the ramp times and the minimum speed that keeps the pump cooled and lubricated. Set the minimum speed deliberately, as a pump run too slowly can overheat its seal. Record the final parameter set with the date and the engineer name.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
