A five-port Gigabit switch for DIN-rail cabinets
The Advantech EKI-2725 is a five-port unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch for industrial cabinets. All five RJ45 ports run at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDI-X, over up to 100 m of Cat.5e or Cat.6 cable. There is nothing to configure: connect devices, supply power and the switch forwards traffic.
The power design is the main industrial feature: redundant 12 to 48 VDC inputs, protection against reverse polarity wiring and an overload current fuse. A relay output signals alarm events such as a lost supply, while port LEDs show link, speed and collision status and system LEDs show P1, P2 and ALM. The metal IP30 housing is only 30 mm wide, which saves rail space.
Two models are covered by the datasheet: EKI-2725 for -10 to 60 degrees C and EKI-2725I for the wide range of -40 to 75 degrees C.

Ordering codes and selection
The datasheet lists EKI-2725-CE (5-port Gigabit unmanaged switch) and EKI-2725I-CE (the same switch with a wide temperature range). Use the standard model in conditioned panels and the I model for unheated or sun-exposed enclosures.
Because the switch is unmanaged it has no VLAN, ring redundancy or monitoring features. Where those are required, managed models such as the EKI-5710E and EKI-7710E series add them; this unmanaged unit suits point-to-point extensions, small machine networks and camera or PLC clusters that need Gigabit speed and a redundant supply.
What to confirm before ordering
Confirm the supply voltage and whether two supplies will be wired, the ambient temperature of the cabinet, and whether the alarm relay will be connected to a controller. Verify that no managed features are needed on the segment.
